Pypes Mid Muffler System?

Pypes Mid Muffler System?
anybody actually gave this thing a try yet? i was considering it, then changed my mind, but now, i am reconsidering it again. why? the answer is obvious, the new mustang just don't sound as good as the older ones with the mufflers actually under the car. the one reason i quit considering this system in the first place was because of the mufflers being so close to the gas tank. is this really an issue i should worry about? do the mufflers generate that much more heat than the regular exhaust pipes do? i believe this system might be the answer we are looking for with the new car, if we use the right h/x pipe with it. it just might be the sound we are all searching for. whatca think?

I am consideirng it as well. I was browsing brenspeed and saw a mac long tube/prochamber setup that I think would go well with the mid muffler system. I sent them an email and they also have a regular off road H package available for those who dont want to go with a prochamber..
I'll let you know if i pull the trigger or not...
PS - brenspeed also loaded a sound file for the mid pipe system today...

I have an o r prochamber matched a custom mid muffler system and love it. But now I want it louder. Now that I've had the mid muffler system its the only way to go

Pypes Mid-Muffler system installed. Stock exhaust,I was running the GTA axle-backs prior.
I installed myself @ home using jackstands. Tools used; 3/8" Dr ratchet,15mm deep well socket & a 13mm Gearwrench. You'll need to unbolt the bottom bolt of the rear shocks, jack up the car & put the jackstands on the rear frame rail. I removed the GTA's prior to putting the jackstands in, they don't have enough room with a muffler there. The straight pipes from the Pypes system will clear though.
Removing the factory over axle pipe is tight & will require some shifting around, but it can be done.
Read the install directions, I installed mine in their order & it all went togther O.K. Clearance between the gas tanks & driveshafts is TIGHT.I've got maybe 1/4" to the tanks. Also, look & plan the clamp orientation.Tip alignment is gonna be tricky, there's more pieces vs. the stock setup. I still have to go back tomorrow & realign the pass. side tip.
Overall, kinda a PITA doing with limited room, if you've got the money to spend have a muffler shop do it. I've been turning wrenches most of my +30yr career & I prefer to do it myself.
Start-up,easily as loud & deep as the GTA's & mine are well broken in. I'd say maybe 1 notch up on loudness. Low RPM's & coasting, similar to the GTA's. Mid RPM's, a few steps up, sounds good! Has a different tone to it overall. Wide open, nice not overbearing loud and again a bit louder than the GTA's. Backing off the gas or shifting, it 'burbles' much more than the GTA's. Old school sound.
Just be forewarned, Pypes puts a coating of oil/grease/preservative on the pipes & you'll smell it burning off the first drive. Very noticeable. I'll see if the smell is gone tomorrow.
