Need to know who has pulled their heads on an 05 GT. I got new heads to put on and I got a quote for like $2k to install because they want to pull the engine/trans...I want to know who's done it and what problems they ran into....

I've done it. The motor does need to be lifted some to remove the heads. You might be able to manage it with a modular engine support....could be a pita though. In order to remove the motor, the tranny would have to be pulled too. Send me your email addy and I'll send you a PDF instructions for the removal. The file is too large to send by PM or to post here.

I have all the manuals/543's 1271's for it but the first step that is in the FCSD manual says is to pull the engine when replaceing heads... after some carefull consideration for the 200 micron cleanliness spec for the VCT system I figure I'm safer pulling the engine and doing the assembly in a cleaner environment than the garage. I do have pretty slick system for pulling the heads without pulling the front cover... Maybe I'll take some picks...It will most likely be done in March/April.
