Procharger Superchargers
I normally install the blower or turbo right at 2000 miles (After break-in). This is the first time the emblems have gone on before the blower did, and I only did so for my website (And to fill the holes). I wanted to have completed images for informational purpose. As you can see from prior projects, I am very serious about power adders and this car will get blown if I have to sell a Kidney! LOL!
My last project... http://www.trixtersracing.com/project02.htm
The blower will come (None slated for release (save Vortech) yet, but will let you know when they come out). A proposal is being written. At this point, I have VERBAL confirmation our Turbo S'CREW and my GT will have a place to park at SEMA, more info to come on that.
What I do know is this car will not follow the look of some of the concept cars you have seen at SEMA from Steeda or Roush. I DO like the Saleen stuff as well as MRT, so some of the same components will be used. It will be tailored to law enforcement.
See the concept here... (A little off topic, but you may want to be aware!!!).

The wait is almost over:
http://www.procharger.com/2005_mustang.shtml
More exact specs posted, and the shipping date for the first systems out the door is April 15th.
Someone install one so I can convince the missus that they really do work!

Hey cool, I've seen that Stallings PD Mustang.
Have had the system on order since 14 Feb. They say they are shipping it out on Fri. I plan on installing it next week, I'll be sure to take lots of pics. My baseline on the dyno was 286.1. Looking for 450+ rwhp after the supercharger installation.
If anyone has any questions on the procharger please feel free to ask. I helped with the design of the brackets, did the first magazine article and have had it on my car for months. It's a real nice kit and it installs very easily. Also, if anyone wants one, I can get them a deal!!!

Ok Mike, here ya go
1. What is your opinion of the power to Engine reliability?
2. What is your opinion of the power to Auto Tranny reliability?
3. What is the max 'safe' tune rwhp / rwtq numbers you would recommend?

Mike,
I have a question about the D-1SC Serpentine Race Kit; Is this kit the same as the one that starts shipping on the 15th (except for the charger number) or is this a race only version? What would be the pros and cons of each?
I'm assuming these will be offered in a polished version as well?
Is there a any difference in warranty if we have it installed verses installing it ourselves?
Thanks much,
Gordon

1) I feel the engine will live for a long time at the 440 - 450 hp range. I have flogged it pretty good with no problems. I am currently turning up the power to see where the motor breaks. I'll have an idea how strong they are as the summer goes by.
2) You have got me on the Auto Trans reliability. I'd give Lentech a call and ask their opinion. Im sure there are some upgrades but I don't have first hand experience with it.
3) See #1. Tq is around 410 - 420.

The D1-SC kit will not come with injectors or a handheld tuning device. It will however come with an upgraded 800hp capable intercooler. Other than that, I believe it is the same kit. Polishing is always an option and is relatively inexpensive.

At minimum I would do a set of lower control arms to help with the axel hop issues. As for the install, I am doing the install for 600 + 400 for tuning. So figure installed and shipped for 1000 bucks.

I heard alot of rumors about b/c the engine was so "emissions friendly" it would not really be able to handle the boost of a supercharger. Is there any truth to that? Are we going to be seeing all these blown engines blow up in a year or so?
No problems so far. The top ring is only .100 down which is of some concern. It is however stainless as opposed to moly so it is stronger. They also added a stainless insert in the ring land. These things while good for emissions are also stronger. The connecting rod looks a little beefier than the prior years motors. Im gonna turn up the power till it pops.... until then, we don't know where the limit will be.

Man - I can't get over that quote from above. It must be nice to have the budget so that when you hear a big klunk with blue-black smoke rolling out from under the wheelwells that all you will say is, "COOL - 467 Hp - NEATO! Now were did I put that fire extinguisher?" Were it me, I would be practicing my vocabulary of four letter words!
Good luck! I hope that it doesn't break too bad.
I have a question for you Mike. How much less is the package without programmer and fuel injectors going to be? And will you need a programmer if you already have an XCalibrator or other tuner? Is the programmer used for a supercharger different, or is it the same thing?
Actually Procharger is providing the motor when it blows up. Part of the testing on the kit. They really go the extra mile to make sure their kits are 100%. The car will be in the next MM&FF as far as I know.
Mike
P.S. Vortech is in California....
I have a lot of interest in this thread. Mike - I'm not sure that I ever knew which magazine your car was in and what month. I'd love to check it out. I live relatively close to Lenexa, KS where Procharger/Vortech are located. If I ever get one of these, I could probably find someone who has more than a casual understanding of these things.

Im not sure... my guess will be around 400-500 bucks. I don't believe anyone has successfully calibrated a blown car with the SCT stuff. Last I heard they didnt support some of the stuff you need to do in the software. That may have changed though. The programmer itself isn't any different, it's parameters and maps that you need access too if you want to tune a blown car.
