I purchased the C&L and Predator combination from RPM outlet. Installed it and tried to program it. The predator does not have any C&L tunes. There are tunes for 87, 91 and 93 Octane. but no C&L tunes. The version of software on the predator is R22.

I went to Diablos site and found the C&L tunes. I tried to download them to the predator but I get a message that says you can't load C&L tunes on a Stang_05 predator. The C&L software on the diable site is R17.

Does the R22 software replace the C&L tune? Would I get better results by going with the C&L tunes or should I just stick with what I have? The car flies with this tune now.

If any one know, I'd appreciate your help. I will put a call into Diablo's tech support department tomorrow.

Did you update the Predator yourself? If so you probably reset the Predator back to the 3 "canned" Diablosport tunes.

 

You may have got the wrong predator. Your predator should start-up with the C&L Logo. I think this is your problem.

 

Which Predator do you have? The U7140 (boots with the DiaboSport logo) or the CL7014 (boots with the C&L logo). What software version does your Predator have? Does it say r22 when it boots up?

Have you installed the C&L CAI yet or just installed the canned tuned that came in the tuner?

It sounds like you may be trying to download the C&L Predator software into a DiabloSport Predator.

 

It boots up with the diablosport logo. It has version R22 of Software. I bought it from RPM outlet. I thought it was supposed to be a kit. it came with the C&L, the predator and the Motoblue UD pulleys.

If it boots with the DiabloSport logo it does not contain any C&L Custom Tunes. You must download them from DiabloSports website. Do you have a power adapter and serial cable? What is your CALID so you get the correct tune?

A word of caution - do not install the Custom Tune in your vehicle without installing the C&L CAI or you will have CEL issues. Also do not install the C&L CAI in the vehicle without installing the Custom Tune or you will have CEL issues. Both must be installed at the same time.

It sounds like you have installed the canned tune that came in the Predator but have not installed the C&L CAI yet. Am I correct?

 

Yeah you cannot cross install firmware...I tried.

If you have a C/L Predator, you cannot use the R22
If you have the regular predator, you cannot install R17 for C/L

They are locked into which Firmware it can use.

 

FWIW, I have the U7140 Predator (boots stang_05). It originally came with r17, and I downloaded the C&L tunes from DiabloSports. Worked fine. Then, when r22 was released, I updated the Predator with it. I reloaded the C&L tunes to the Predator after that. I reflashed the car with the C&L tune, and everything went fine. No problems whatsoever...

 

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the feedback. You were all a trmendous help. I was able to download the C&L tunes form the Diablo site and install it into my p[redator. I then re-flashed the stang with the C&L tunes and it defineitely made a difference.

Wow, can this thing move, especially when you get to about 2500-3000 RPM.

I also read the posts on the JET TBS and it souns like this will be a good addition as well.

I haven't installed the UD pulleys yet. I just got the car on Thursday and I've spent about 10 hrs/day playing with it. My wife is calling her my mistress. I'll post some pictures as soon as I get the camera hooked up to the computer.

Octavio make sure to use a 3 jaw puller to remove the original C/S damper and push the new damper on with a tool. Do not pry it off and drive it on as some others have experienced CELs shortly thereafter. Also make sure you use the proper torque on the C/S bolt. Did your pulleys come with instructions? If not here are mine that came with my Steeda pulleys.

 

I have the C&L 93 octane tune installed in my car. Is there anything I can do to squeeze anymore HP out of it? Will playing with the timing doing anything? Any hints/help would be apreciated.
