Thumbs up

I was noticing a moment ago, how small the opening is in the stock airbox for air to get into the box (pre-filter). It's just that one corner opened up, and then there is that little 3 inch plastic piece that makes the air inlet closer to the fender. So it got me thinking:

Has anyone removed the little snap on plastic piece? I'm sure it's there to draw air in as far from the HOT engine as possible, but how effective could it be?

Also, has anyone thought to cut some slits in the airbox, pre-filter, to allow more air in? Rather it be on the sides or bottom of the air box, I wonder if drawing in hot air (if it is really that much hotter than the air coming thru the stock inlet) but more of it would be of any benefit?

Thoughts?

Yeah, I saw your posts a while back.
I was more interested if anyone took a more simple route, and a) removed the little plastic snorkel, and/or B) cut add'l holes in the lower portion of the plastin box to let more air in.

Good creative thinking on the whole duct work thing

PS: YEA!! I finally made GT Member w/ this post

ASkiles (Andy) down here in Arizona did exactly that. He opened up the face of the airbox completely. He also got a tune from DTP. I think he's happy with it for now too.

I've had friends take a drill bit and drill 2 inch holes in their airbox's. Some here happy with the results and some just pretty much destroyed a completely good stock airbox. *NOTE* None of them were Mustangs (thanks God), they were either Imports or Ford Taurus's (older ones like SHO's) or Probes
