PMM rattles/vibrations- FIXED!!!

Another pypes thread I know but me and a couple of other people have been trying to figure out this rattle/vibration with the pypes mid muffler system. Well its quite simple. I noticed that when the pipes were warm they expanded and the hanger would come in contact with the bracket. Well all I did was take off the brackets and notch the area out where it was hitting and problem solved. At first I didn't think it could be the bracket because I thought they were made out of plastic but as I grinded the ****e out of them I realized they were metal. I also took 1/2 off the rear hangers just to be safe. Just thought i'd post for anyone with the pypes system.

I will get a pic but just check out your passanger side hangers after the exhaust has really warmed up. With mine I noticed the hangers came in contact with the bracket and I just notched out that "contact" area...

i just cut about 1" off the end of my hangers... and that fixed most of it...

but as you said, my passenger side hanger does come in contact with the stock mount.... every now and then... and it drives me crazy...

i never thought about notching the thing though!!!

it would be cake though, cause you can leave the exhaust in, remove the hanger, notch it and put it back fairly easily...

man thats a sweet idea.. im definately gonna have to do it

Can anyone explain how they "notched" the hanger? What tools did you use?

I have this exact annoying buzz and rattle, and would LOVE to get rid of it as it is driving me beyond crazy. And yes, it happens ONLY when the pipes are warmed up. Whats strange though is that it will buzz away while driving, but when I pull over and put the car in park (auto) or nuetral and rev it, I get no rattle. You guys have the same issue?

Thanks guys!

Ok you two Look at the pic below and the notch that I took out of the bracket is where the hanger was hitting...Also notching the hanger brackets wasn't quite enough for me. I made the mounting holes horizontally larger so I could physically move the hanger bracket towards the rear of the car without the need to drill new holes in the frame rails. You don't have to do that but i did it just to be safe. Best of luck

I have the opposite problem. My Pypes MM's only rattle on cold startup. Once everything is warm I'm fine. I've checked seemingly everything.... any tips?

This is exactly what I experience with my muffler deletes and custom dynomax bullets. Its when the car is cold. I need to do that. I have just been too lazy to look under the car to fix it. Glad that you found a fix.

Your welcomeI used an electric grinder with a diamond blade. You will not see the hanger touch the bracket unless the pipes are warm and expanded..

I dont have access to tools like that which really sucks... do you think that for the time being, I can wrap it in electrical tape (yes, the ghetto fix) and minimize the rattle, until I can find someone with a grinder.
