Hi, could anyone please advise me on the best intake to get for $300 or less? I was just about to order the K&N Air Charger intake but I thought $400 was a bit high for an intake... am I wrong? They boast 15 horsepower gain but that also seems a bit high, especially for simply an aftermarket intake. Please respond and let me know the best but not priciest intake to get for the 2005 GT. Thanks!

Well I do agree, buttttttt that may be difficult, more or less I'm just wondering if people have a good idea (personal experience, things they have read, friend's vehicles) of what the best intake is for a conservative price.

I think with a tune, all of the intakes produce similar gains. I have the C&L + tune and ran heads up with another 05 who has a JLT + tune (kluski) and it was a dead heat, a drivers race.

They all work well.
For me,Im going w/ the group buy in the sticky up above. I cant speak for any of them first hand, so I offer no insight.

I was originally going to get the C&L piece, but after seeing and feeling first hand, I think heat soak could be a problem.
Most draw air from the "stock location", w/ limited fresh air for these motors..
I decided w/ the GP mainly for the fact, its the first to offer some type of FRESHER air than what is currently available.

Just my $.02 worth..

I don't know where the heck you saw the K&N for $400 but there's plenty of places that sell it for around $250

Just installed my C&L with the Predator tune today and all I can say is "WOW". I was really impressed with the power it added to my car. The installation was a snap also.

The only problem Jeff, is that some of them "require" tunes. If you don't have a tuner yet, you'll have to spring for one of those as well.

Now if you want to stagger your purchase, I'd get the K&N which will run without a tune and gain you 10-15 HP, with a tune 22+ You can find them for $250.00.

If you already had a tuner, I'd go with a JLT, hands down best bang for the buck IMO.

Check out the one that Ford Racing now sells for 225. I would rather have it than some others but like I said I am happy with the JLT.

...good looks shouldnt be the deciding choice of a CAI, the one to get is the one U feel most comfortable w/ after researching...IMO
They all look good in their own way...some more than others.

C&L does look great for sure...

I'm happy with my K&N before and after I tuned the car. If your going to pay $400 I'll pull mine off and sell it to you for $350, LOL You can find it most places for around $250 so don't pay 400 or anything close.

I have the C&L. It was between it and JLT. It came down to looks, the seller/tuner is 2 hours away and the Xcalibrator-2 came preloaded with 3 performance tunes and holds my stock tune.

And yes from what I have seen I agree with the other guys, if you want to stay around that price range, K&N is your best best and add a tuner later.

Do you want to tune it? If not go for the K&N, I have it and am very pleased. Where did you see the K&N for 400 and if so I hope that was with a tuner?
The car runs like a champ in the cold. Seriously.

It will take a week or so for her to "season" and you will see some more pick-up - especially with Predator 93 Octane tune - when she hits 3rd during acceleration, sounds like a blower winding out - more so when cool temps.....
