Plastic Cold air intakes

Between the C&L Racer, the Airaid with tuner, or K&N with Tuner what do you guys think? I know that I would like to go with a molded plastic intake similar to the above, but also want to have it tuned by either Bama or Brenspeed. Is quality about the same for the above? how about fitment, meaning is it engineered where it isnt banging into brake lines and the hood or fender?

Also, is the Roush available with a tuner?

Also separate question, will any of these make that raw gas smell, like you're not running cats? I would want that.

thanks guys, and Merry Christmas

Sam

I think the C&L is the most popular....

as for the smell, what makes you say they have a smell lke no cats?

I have noticed a smell but figured it was just from nasty cats making some stinky gas.

A have a Roush CAI en route to me I should receive it tomorrow or thursday. It's been in the mail and all around the country for more than 2 weeks. So much for free shipping. Hopefully it will arrive in good condition. I will let you know what I think when i get it installed. I plan to get an tuner for it pretty soon. But for now it's going on straight away.

BTW, Brenspeed has an Airraid+tuner combo. Airraid is identical to the Roush.

the airaid looks nice but people are really liking the C&L and it may sound like i am biased but the JLT is a good price with the tuner, i mean the intake alone is only $180

I'd say JLT as well . I think that it's the best CAI for the money. I do know from experience that plastic seems cooler than aluminum. My previous polished GMS got so hot you could not touch it... the JLT does not get near as hot. Sure Roush/Airaird, and C&L are also very good CAIs. As far as smelling gas...

Sorry guys, too much Christmas treats, I meant to say that with the tune, i have heard that there is a strong smell of gas sometimes. That is something I would not want. somehow shuts down the O2 sensor in the cat or something?

The JLT and Demolet while I understand that they offer great gains, I am not as found of the look,

Also, i dont have the steeda car, just have the avatar, so sorry no extra pics.

I think that when the time is right, I am going with C&L Racer.

thanks! and merry christmas!

Sure, there are better looking CAIs out there, but, I think the JLT looks good. Fitment is fine. I have not noticed the smell of gas as the result of the tune(s), nor have I read people complaining about that issue

What have you guys heard about Tunable induction? Brenspeed has a very nice intake and SCT combo that I might jump on. Seems like it is comparable to JLT and looks quite a bit better.

I haven't seen a great deal of information on Demolet CAIs, but if Brenspeed supports it, it can't be bad. Here is link to a previous thread concerning Demolet: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...ht=demolet+cai. Initiate a search for other related threads...

Your right ? it's very comparible to the JLT the only differences between the 2 are the MAF housing on the JLT is 88mm in diameter and is billet aluminum where on the other hand ? the Tunable Induction MAF housing is 95mm in diamater and has a plastic housing but either way you just can't go wrong their both very well designed intakes especially for the amount of money you save..Although my Steeda intake cost more than the TI and JLT ? quality wise their just as good.. my decision for going with Steeda was because they design the FRPP cold air intake and also share an official partnership in Ford's Technology Transfer Program..

I will go ahead and give Brent a call over @ Brenspeed and see what he says about the JLT/T.I. combos.

Not only is the Airaid identical to the Roush ? but thier also one in the same..Airaid designs the Roush CAI and shares a similar partnership much in the same way as Ford does with Steeda..

i have not heard good things about a bigger MAF housing, many people who buy Airaids do not take out the venturi tube for simple reason it is easier to tune with it in and they keep the same size MAF housing size as many other intakes

Yeah, I've read that bigger CAIs doesn't necessary mean better...
