Just an FYI and a question I suppose... I have almost 20k on my pirellis now and it seems like my traction has dropped significantly. The rubber feels harder now (when compared to another new GT) .. My wet traction BLOWS. Im already planning on getting another set soon cause I remember when they did get traction and they rocked in any condition.. Anyone else noticed a drop in traction? And btw there are no burnouts on these tires.

thanks

After 20,000 miles, and the tires going threw hundreds of heat cycles, the tires while harden and loose traction, especially in wet as the silica and other properties in the tire that helps wet weather traction are expended over time.

Time to get some new tires.

Don't forget to spray your wheelwells with Pam for easy removal of the rubber!

I never found the Pzero Nero's to have good traction even when they were new. Especially in rain. I'm doing my best to burn them off so's I have an excuse to buy new rubber next spring. I can't decide whether to get Bridgestone Potenza 750e 255/50/17 summer tires or Nitto 450 275/50/17 all season.

Sometimes when I roll into a puddle of water, my Nitto 450 275/50-17s tend to lose traction.

Is that some sort of a sick joke? I've been trying all week to find a pair or 275/40-17 M/T Drag Radials... no one has any (national backorder). I can get the ET Streets, but I would rather have the radials.

That stinks about the back order. I'm just waiting until spring to get mine, no sense in getting them now. Hopefully I can find a sale during the winter and get some free shipping or something.

Looking forward to hooking up at 5000 RPMs

I back up and stop just before the water box, rev it up to 5 grand and spin the tires to the starting line. That gets em pretty warm and I can hook up off the line at 3 grand pretty good.

My pirrellis are still holding up pretty good with only 6000 miles on em.

I did fix a nail puncture in one of em - grrrr.

Anyhow when they wear out I intend to buy 18 inch rims with wider lower-profile tires.

I just can't justify spending $1600 on 4 rims and tires when what I have works just fine.

I heard "not so good things" about pirrellis holding up past about 20k miles.
