Hey fellas - I know this topic is definitely been talked about but I want to start over.

I currently have the SLP Loudmouths (which I love) but I think I want to venture into more of a performance exhaust.

First, I want to buy Bassani's x-pipe with high flow cats (emmissions in my state); however, I know the SLP's will be too loud with these. So maybe a different axleback with no drone.

Second, I want to get some headers. Probably short headers. Not sure which ones but I heard JBA was having fitting issues with theirs.

Magnaflow + Bassani x-pipe + Short Headers? (I might still have my Magnaflows I was going to sell)
Flowmasters + Bassani x-pipe + Short Headers?
Bassani + Bassani x-pipe + Short Headers?
Borla + Bassani x-pipe + Short Headers?

Any Suggestions?

Cheers_Jay

Well - I'm assuming shorty headers will bolt right up to the cats? and long headers eliminate the cats?

Am I wrong?

Jordan - I will definitely try the SLP's first with the x-pipe and have something else in mind for a back up.

I'm thinking of upgrades as well. Right now I have Magnapaks cat back only, can I do an x-pipe and shorty headers? What's the best combo? Will I need a new tune? I already have the SCT 2 set for the C&L intake. Thanks!

I'm curious to why guys are waisting money on axle back exhausts when it's been said that the stock axle back is good for at least 400hp. I've read this in two different mags, although I can't remember which ones at the moment. Now if your doing it for sound reasons only, that I understand. The SLP's sound sick on a stock car but add a midpipe or headers and your almost certain to get pulled over.

All the axle back kits sound great but I'd like to see an actual dyno of where the only mod was an axle back kit. My game plan once my car gets here is to purchase JBA long tubes and their matching H pipe with cats. I'm going to leave the stock axle back exhaust alone. The combo of the long tube headers and H pipe will increase the sound level of the stock system but it shouldn't be too loud.

If it's too quiet then I'll start shopping for an axle back system but for sound reasons only.

Just FYI -> If your area has emissions inspections, then forget the JBA longtube headers. They are not emissions legal.

Ok , ok...

I'm leaning towards - Magnaflows + Bassani x-pipe w/high cats

and maybe FRPP Shorty Headers (not quite sure about the headers)

How about MagnaPAKS + Bassani x-pipe w/high cats?

granted, the power gains from an aftermarket axle-back system are trivial, but I just had some Magnaflows installed and they sound NICE, and they LOOK even better! They fill out the gap nicely and just look mean, like the car has rocket boosters! I love 'em!

Go with the Bassani's. I have them and I love them. There is a little drone when it is cold but not enough IMO to pass them up. I have a thread of my install here:
http://franksperformance.com/Forums/...p?showtopic=65
I also have a picture in there of the Bassani cats and x-pipe lying next to the stock cats and H pipe on my garage floor. It really shows how much more "strait through" Bassani's system is.
