Panhard brace or lateral stiffener, go aftermarket?
I noticed that the 2005-2013 Mustang uses a stamped steel piece above the stock panhard bar, and saw some aftermarket replacements that are square tubing or tubular. I sat there and looked at the setup and can't figure out how the panhard brace or as Ford calls it, the lateral stiffener, functions and what benefits can be gained going with a stiffer bar.
It's the black bar above the red panhard bar here:

I am keeping the stock panhard rod as I am not lowering the Mustang, but I'd like to know if a stiffer panhard brace is worthwhile. It bolts across from the unibody to the box assembly where the panhard bar is attached.

The general consensus on Corner Carvers is not to install an aftermarket brace, as most of the winning Mustangs are still running the stock brace. The F-body apparently uses the same Panhard setup and they all use the stamped piece. The brace is just to stiffen the body mount for the panhard bar. There's not that many braces to choose from and it isn't discussed often, that's for sure.
