Pan hard bar Q

Will I need a double adjustable pan hard or a single? My car is not lowered and I have no plans on lowering it. The rear axel is off to the passenger side about 1/2-3/4 of an inch from the factory. I just want it centered. What one is easier to adjust? Thanks

This is probably the best bar for both of you. I used it when I lowered my 2006.

Works perfectly, very easy to adjust.

I have the same J&M adjustable panhard bar. It's not the easiest to adjust because the adjustment is on boths ends, and the passenger-side cannot be tightened without dropping it down on that end after adjusting the bar. However, it is a quality piece and much lighter than the OEM panhard bar, and the bushings are firmer than OE, so it should tighten up some lateral movement, plus you'll have your axle centered. Still it's boring. The bars that have the adjustment towards the center would be much easier to adjust.

Never had trouble adjusting the passenger side. Installed it loose and adjusted it to where it needed to be then tightend everything down. Worked perfect. It is a boring purchase but neccessary nonetheless.

One thing to make sure is that you make the adjustment and tighten everything down with the suspension loaded.

The J&M bar is the same setup as my Steeda one. It is a pain in the aaass to adjust but I dealt with it by taking the box wrench to a bench grinder, making the fingers on the wrench thinner to deal with the tight clearances (but not so thin that it would break).

BMR makes one that adjusts in the middle. I have four of their control arms installed so I can vouch that make quality stuff

You might be able to feel a difference in how the car hooks up.

So this brings up another question... Strut tower bar brace... All other stangs I've owned already had it in place... This one does not.... U can find em on eBay for $69 ... I found a Kenny brown one for 149... It is a single bar but stupid thick... How important is the material/design? Here is a few I just pulled from google

Take a drink straw. Push on the ends till it bends where does it bend? In the middle so you don't want your PHB adjuster in the middle.

Take that same straw and a new one unbent which is hard to bend? The straight one unfortunately a straight strut tower brace won't fit our cars and the bent ones just aren't strong enough to do any good.

Steeda has the OE bar on sale this week as our "Deal of the week". You can get it on sale for $149 with free shipping.

This strut tower bar is designed and manufactured by Ford and is now available from Steeda.

Let me know if you have any questions?

Thanks

I had read back in '06 or '07 that the torsional rigidity on our cars' chassis is so great that a strut tower brace doesn't make an appreciable difference. Hence why I never bought one. I've never once felt like the car was flimsy or unresponsive to the wheel.

Great analogy! I've been considering one that adjusts in the middle but now it looks like I need to do more research.

Just FYI, this is the clearance you're looking at with the one that adjusts at the ends. Seeing as how you only adjust it once (maybe twice if you change the ride height), it's really not that big of a deal.

And this was my solution to clearance problems (the one on the right / bottom--the smaller one is there fore reference)

I went with the Steeda Panhard Bar 555-2551. It is a good qaulity piece, but as others have mentioned it is difficult to adjust on the car. If I had to select a Panhard Bar over again I would like likely go with one similar to this BMR Bar:

You will only need to adjust the bar a minimal number of times. To adjust the bar you should hold one end with a open end wrench and turn the other with your hand.

Like the 908sspreplied above, when you push on straw or any other solid object, the middle is the first to bend. If you have a week point in the middle where the adjustment can be made then you are risking failure.

Our bar has been tested and engineered to make sure it is the strongest piece that we can provide. The bar is chrome moly steel which is lighter and stronger than ordinary steel.

The J&M being referred to is the same as our old design, for years now we have had a different design that is much easier to adjust.

It does look different from what is on the website. Its close enough no one complains, and the nice thing about leaving the old picture on the site is your competitors who copied you don't know you've changed anything

I'll see if i can take a picture of the current design since we havent actually published a picture of it.
