Out of the Box Tune with Nitrous?

Right now I have an AFE C.A.I. and muffler delete with Magna-Flo Tips and I'm running a Predator Tuner with a preloaded 91 Octane tune. Thinking about buying the Zex Wet Kit but I wanted to know if I could still run my tune on the car, is there too much advance in the timing to safely run the Nitrous even with only the 75 Shot? I had a '02 Vert that I ran a N.O.S. 100 Shot on and never had a single problem, but never ran a tuner at the same time. Thanks for any advice in advance.

there are quite a few threads on this very subject already posted to TMS, all you have to do is use the SEARCH function.

I suggest you visit a dyno and have it tuned just as you would with any power adder. Canned internet tunes are a recipe for disaster with nitrous injected s197s. The timing needs to be close with a 75 shot but not dead on, the AF ratio should be more of a concern to you than the timing on the small Zex shot.

Expect 50hp at the rear wheels from Zex.

Next question then, Is anyone making a timing retard device that will active with the arming of the nitrous at W.O.T. ? I still want to have a good NA tune with bolt ons and also be able to use the giggle gas. If not there should be, something like the MSD Digital 6 but needs to work on coil-on-plug applications. Any thoughts, thanks. SEARCH function is no fun

if you have an awesome tuner dude to work the computer he can use the knock sensor to act as your auto retard box and have it set to pull a certain degree of timing. My original nitrous tune did this so I could also use it for regular street N/A trim. But since I use 104 strictly when Im at the track I dont have to pull timing out like I had to before and Im running a 125 shot to the wheels.

Thanks Dan, I'll check around my neck of the woods for a good tuner, but I doubt anyone here has the skills, might have to talk to Diablo and see about getting a tune from them. Cheers

Im sure Diablosport can help any somewhat good tuner into getting something done right.

My tuner (John) @ AlteredSpeed is 1 of 11 top minds with Diablo's software and tuning ECU driven cars in general. He has data and knowledge that is shared with the Diablo engineers and vice-versa.

Just get on a Dyno, its the only thing you should concern yourself with.
