Since Mobil 1 is now a Group III synthetic (or it could be Group IV, sort of like a box of chocolates) I just use the least expensive name-brand Group III Synthetic:

Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Q Synth. These are available at $4 per quart or less any day of the week at Wal-Mart.

thats their 15000 mile oil for $7.49 a qt.

the 0w20 I run in my car is a 25,000 mile oil and the preferred customer price is $7.20
costs less, lasts longer its a win win.

It seems that with the lack of supply of Mobil 1, Amsoil would be the way to go. I plan to switch to it before bringing my car out in the spring, and plan to buy it from Shadyninja. I'll join the Preferred Customer program to keep the price as low as possible.

the plant in the gulf that makes the base stocks for Exxon Mobil should back to normal by then , so the shortage will be over, but you will be buying a better product for about the same cost.
and If you want bring the car to me, I offer "Free Installation" to my local customers

Mobile 1 - the place closest to me doesn't carry RP, but I've run RP before and it's good stuff too.

I've used Mobil1 & Mobil1 filters, but this time around I got the Motorcraft 5w-20 Synthetic and Motorcraft filter, and seems to be running just as smooth!

I'd only do one of those 2 though. Best bang for the buck!

Royal purple I know is supposed to be good too, but i can't justify $7.00+ per quart!
