Ok here we go again with the silly oil question. I will change my oil when i see fit, but what I'm asking is what brand do people recomend? I have 600 miles now and will use synthetic oil from the start. Because I'm overseas, the air force base has all brands that you would see in a store like autozone. So I was thinking Mobile 1 5w 20 . Is this a good choice??

Mobil 1 full synthetic is good stuff. Can't go wrong using it, and can get it just about anywhere. I wouldn't use if for a few thousand miles, give the motor a chance to break in.

Amsoil is also really good oil, and you can order it by the case as a Preferred customer at a good price. They have some oils that they say last for 25,000 miles, but no way I'm waiting that long, I have to change my oil every 3000 miles, just for piece of mind if nothing else, and I'm really hard on the engine.

But to answer your question, Mobil 1 and Amsoil.

Amsoil. They were the first to develop synthetic oil. The rest are still trying to catch up.
Does Amsoil make a 0-30 or 0-40 oil? I dont think so.

Mobile 1 for me.

it comes from the factory with synthetic blend. I switched to mobil 1 5w-20 at 2500 miles.

The car idles down below 1,000 rpm alot quicker and just seems to rev easier now.

i plan on changing it every 3,000 miles.

i drive it hard as do most of you, so i figure there's no reason to test the limits of the oil at the expense of my motor

Ford and most other auto Manufacturers have spent billions in engine research and development.Sticking to there recomendations and Viscosity.s is all you need to do.Dont get stinked into gimicks that actualy might hurt your performance and engine.

It is a sham.

Read your owner's manual. It specifically says NOT to use any engine oil additives.

Mobile 1 5w-20, switched to Mobil at 9,000 mi. The motor noise quieted down some after I switched to Mobil 1.

Hi Greg. Welcome to The Mustang Source.
You should read this report from the FTC and decide yourself. LINK
Thanks for the welcome and the assistance. That report from the FTC is WOW!
It appears that Slick 50 have been hosing me and others for years.

Redline Synthetic 5-20 is good stuff too but it's not as easy to find as Mobil 1.
