They sound great but will they eventually wear out the springs before their time?

Thats a good question! If one go's by history the FRRP cams are probably on the mild side compared to the Comp cam!

+1 this was my point..... I bet they both make the same HP (roughly), and the guys at Brenspeed have suggested that they don't believe any more torque can be made down low by changing cams.
I thought the new "hot rod" cams required springs
. I messaged Justin @ JPC racing and this is what the message contained:
Hi,

> I saw the video of the 05-08 Mustang GT and it said it had FRPP HOT ROD Cams? I didn't k...
I'm not sure if I responded or not, things have been crazy lately!!
They are actually prototypes and are not availible to the public right now.
The cams installed and dynoed will runn apprx $2500 installed. the cams retail for $750, springs and retainers=$450, some other small misc hardware and the rest is labor to install, and dyno labor. It's apretty big job!! The cams are not availible, but if you wish to stay in touch with us on them you can contact us at, 410-768-3025, or e-mail @ justin@jpcracing.com.Thanks

The "Hot Rod Cams" ad on Sutton Performance's website states there is "no need to replace the valve springs".
The Brenspeed/Comp Cams ad also says that the factory valve springs can be used.
I'm not surpised that the JPC cams need new springs because it really had a lopey sound to the idle - too good to be true..

Isn't that the idea of Cams ....side benefit ruffly produced HP!
Both having a totally different cut somethings going to be different, As 70MACH1OWNER says its all in the math....
One would hope both could cough up between 20-25 HP for 700.00 plus bucks and the cost of install !
That's about all we have left unless someone comes up with a better intake manifold.(reasonably priced) which seems unlikely at this point in time. 25 rwph is a big gain for that price.
Yes, you're right. Me personally, I wouldn't wait for the supposed FAST intake that's been "just around the corner" for about 4 months now.
Of couse, you could skip the cams and go straight for a blower.

I agree that is the way to go and I'd probably go the Saleen route if I did. This may be my last "hot rod" so I want to go one small step at a time - sometimes the foreplay is the best part...
hahahaa, I hear ya- I debated on cams for a LONG time then realized that I wouldn't be happy.... that's just me though. Ask my wife, she'll testify to my "foreplay is useless" theory LOL!
