Not Another Cam thread...

Hi guys,

Sorry to add yet another cam thread, but I was wondering if anyone out there has done a cam vs. cam review like mustang50magazine.com did for long tube headers (http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...s/viewall.html)?

I'm going to pull the trigger on some cams in the next week or so, but I keep reading good/bad things about each cam (FRPP Hot Rods, ***** Thumprs and Detroit Rockers). After reading tons of threads, I still can't sort out which would be the best fit for my (NA) ride Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't have a comparison for ya but I'll give you a pros and cons for my ***** thumprs... Pros: amazing sound, great power in high rpm, increased rpm range (6600), really cool rumble at idle, biggest cams for stock heads. Cons: low end torque loss, hard to drive at low rpm (takes some getting used to) at low speed in low gear (car bucks from the lope), noticeable loss of mpg (who cares...), decreased throttle response, frequent stares and questions. I will say though, the low end torque and throttle response has improved after a couple weeks. I guess there's a break in process. Overall I like em, no regrets.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has switched from one cam to another and had different results?

Oooo idk they're a pretty expensive investment. Prolly not but who knows. That'd be too convenient lol

Did you replace your headers with LT's? I had the same issues (bucking and hard to drive at low RPM's) with my FRPP HotRod's the six months I had them before I installed my Kooks LT's. After the Kook's headers with H pipe and high flow cats driveability improved 100% and the low RPM driving issues disappeared.

Nah basically stock exhaust other than the axel back. Gonna be getting an or h pipe to hold me over till I do full exhaust though. Hopefully that will help. Thanks for the info tho, never thought the exhaust would have anything to do with it... I was thinking gears would help which I'll be doing later too. It'd be cool if deleting the cats helped... Thanks again
