noob here.. 2008 GT black/crimson red

hi all. I am on the verge of pulling the trigger on a new 08 GT 5 speed black with crimson red leather interior. I actually found a dealer within 100 miles of me that had two in stock.. Rare combo. and beatitiful. Couple questions tho. It seems to hit the rev limiter real easy.. Ther fun seems to come to an end too quick before the 1-2 shift on the test drive..
also.. is the hood a composite plastic? It sure seems like it is.. Monday is the day we are picking it up...
it has the red leather, HID's, int upgrade, anti theft, wheel locks, GT appearance pkg, 18" polished wheels, premier trim package..

It does hit the rev quickly in 1st, learn to time the shift at the right time. It should bark the tires between shifts. The hood is aluminum.

Congrats, and be warned, the mod bug is evil. 2 years ago, almost to the day, I took ownership of my black with red interior with polished wheels... this is how she looks today, and will look different next month after the new hood and other exterior mods...

flyingn - congrats on the new car. Get a handheld tuner and raise the redline (I did). On a side note, the dealership I work at just sold an '08 GT Coupe (black with red interior) to an exporter who is shipping the car to a customer in Japan. Good taste knows no borders!

I like your color scheme - but I am biased, of course!

I have the DiabloSport Predator tuner. It came with several tunes pre-installed, and each kept the factory redline. However, I can modify each of the tunes via the tuner, including the redline settings. I currently have redline set at 7,000 rpm's (not that I would ever run the motor that high intentionally, but when shifting at about 6,500 rpm's I want the extra breathing room in case I shift a little late). I've also raised the shift points and line pressure for my automatic transmission and turned off the top speed limiter. Also, at the dragstrip I push global and/or 4,000+ rpm spark advance a few degrees at a time until the car runs slower, then back it down a notch to maximize timing for the weather conditions. There's a lot more you can do to tweak the tunes yourself within a few minutes time, but you have to have a good understanding of those changes so that you don't run the engine lean.
