Noise with UCL from Metco

Just installed Metco billet Upper Control Link and Lower Control arms. As soon as I drove it, I got a loud clunking noise when you let off the gas. You can feel it right up thru the driver's seat. Metco says it could be the UCL. I rechecked all the torque values and all are good. Any one else having this problem...if yes, what did you do about it. Thanks

I had the same problem. Exact same place I felt it, drivers side down by the back of the door. You can hear it and feel it.

You need to use new lca bolts and nuts when doing the change out. ($35 from Ford parts)
The bolts and nuts are torque to yeild and are to be used one time only.

As soon as the new lca bolts and nuts were replaced on my GT the sound went away.

Check the Ford Service Manual for reference information and part numbers.

The Ford Service Manual also illustrates the proper way to check the pinion angle on these little devils.

There are a lot of folks that insist that the lca bolts and nuts can be reused. It may have worked on their car but it sure the heck didnt work on mine.

Did you set the pinion angle properly?

Yes. And double checked it. I definately sounds like something is lose. When I take my foot off the gas, you get a loud clump. I know it is some where in the UCL as you can really feel it in the back seat. Thanks.

I have LCA's and a UCA on order. Could someone please post the part numbers for the bolts? I don't have a manual at the moment.

I am going to try new bolts and nuts on my LCA. I have BMRs and they snap, crackle and pop like crazy. And it is driving me crazy. I will let you all know what happens.

Do you have the LCA with Rods ends or Poly bushings?

If you have the rod ends they transfer a ton of noise into the car which is why for a daily driver i suggest ONLY poly bushing parts. I had a BMR Rod End panhard bar on and only kept it on for like 500 miles do to the noise it transfered into the car I could not deal with it.

After trying many different fixes, I finally went back to the stock UCL. Noise immediately went away. There is just too much play in the UCL to make me comfortable with it. I will work with Metco on some kind of a deal Hate to be out that kind of money for nothing. Looks like I will have the Metco LCAs only for a while.
