Thumbs up

Put in my K&N filter tonight and wanted to see what the HC Trap looked like in person and there is not one in there! Took off the entire intake plumbing and definetly not there. What's up? Anyone else have one not be in there from the factory? Should I get one. Car runs awesome with the SLP loudmouth and K&N filter should I mess with getting one?

Thanks Scott.

I have heard a few times that someone went to take their's out, but there was no trap in it from the factory, so I wouldn't worry about it, and definitely would not put one back in there. Why buy something that you don't need that is going to take away a couple of horsepower?

Have fun, smoke 'em if you got 'em.

Yep, none in mine. I brought this up a while ago, but nobody really replied. Ford is saving money everywhere they can.

Just went out and checked mine; don't have one! Mine was built same day as Stangscuba98's; maybe Ford is just saving a few bucks per car? Odd that they would just start leaving them out in April or so...such a change on the line would surely require several engineers to sign off on it; if it's now all of a sudden OK to leave it out, why'd they put any in to begin with?

My car was built on April 30th. I just went out and checked.....no trap in mine either! I'd be interested in learning why they quit putting them in?

They discovered that the little bit of hydrocarbons they were trapping wasn't worth the decrease in airflow?

I think it's odd too

Mine was built 4/27, and I bet there is not one in it either. Putting on the JLT in a few days, so I'll check then.

So much for K&N's warning that if you remove the trap, you could damage your engine. Wonder what they say now.

Can we return our HC Traps for credit?

So do you think the cars were tuned before or after the trap was not installed?

My car was born on April 7th and had the trap. I took it out though and my MPG went up by almost 2 since I did.

Yeah, and K&N also says there CAI doesn't need a tune...

Then why do all the others?

actually the mustang would pass smog without the trap.So fords profit goes up by not installing the trap.So you get a couple of HP.

I went outside to check for an HC trap, and Ford didn't even bother to build my car! I guess they saved money on that one :bang:

Inifnity - for what it's worth - I recently visited several Ford dealerships here in SoCal (bought a new F-150 4x4) and came across several GT's on the lot for sale. One was a silver preimum auto, there was another red GT preimum auto vert, and a black coupe as well.....they are out there if you don't want to wait on an '06.....
