Nexus or Prosport Gauges?
Nexus or Prosport Gauges?
I am looking for some gauges for the SOS pods. Currently have it narrowed down to either the Auto Meter Nexus or the ProSport Premium (the premiums will fit the SOS pods) gauges. I want to be able to set alarm limits on the gauge is my main requirement.
The Nexus are nice with the "Bus" type setup and the ability to change the colors like the instrument cluster, but the cost for these gauges are high, ($1000.00 just for the 3 gauges and controller, Boost, Fuel Pressure, Oil Pressure).
The Prosports have the alarm settings and are a lot cheaper but you cant change the colors.
What experiences have you all had with the Nexus and the ProSports gauges? Are the Nexus worth the $$, any problems with either of these brands? Thanks...

I've got the ProSports, and no problems at all with them thus far. Of course, my car hasn't been off jackstands since they went in, but...
From where I sit, here are the pros and cons:
PROS:
Very easy to read
Alarm function is excellent*
Very easy to program
CONSIDERABLY less expensive than Nexus, with more flexibility.**
All electrical, simple to install, no junction boxes.
CONS:
Additional wiring needs to be run to the gauges
Lights don't change color
Lights don't dim
That's about it.
* when the alarm threshold is hit, the gauge beeps annoyingly and LOUDLY, and flashes back and forth between the normal color and deep, blood red... It makes it's point.
** I may be off base about the Nexus series, but if I wanted to run water temp, oil pressure and trans temp, I think I would need the larger, more expensive controller, as trans temp isn't offered on the smaller one.
Here's a couple of pix, second with alarm on...

Hope this helps...

I thought about this last year regarding the Nexus guages..... but then I decided that even though I have My Color, I hardly ever change the color- it's usually blue. So I saved money and went with Autometer Cobalts. I guess the point being, do you play with My Color alot or not? If not, then who cares about the Nexus ability.
I have the first generation ProSports and they have been great, particularly considering the price. The only negative with them (possibly with the Nexus, too, though), is that when the sun is just right, they are difficult to read.
