Next Mod...1 pc. Driveshaft..Which one??

Ok getting close to my next Quaterly Bonus payout and I've decided on a 1 pc. Drive shaft. Here is what I found so far:

Spyder Shaft $479 + shipping includes bolts and flange
Denny's Steel Shaft 595.95 plus shipping
Coast Alum. Shaft $572.00 plus shipping

Any opinins on these driveshafts or can you tell if you found them cheaper somewhere else. Also I'm going to need the saftey loop. I've already got my suspension pcs. on (LCA,UCA,Panhard bar (all adjustable), relocation brackets and d-spec shocks). I need to get the driveshaft on before I go to have my car dyno at Brenspeed in August.

anything I'm missing??????

Well you're obviously missing something.........

OK in all seriousness, I've heard good things about all of those shafts; if I were you I'd probably buy the cheapest in this case. Do a search on Spyder's shaft, there's alot of people running those.

I bought a Powerhouse alum driveshaft over a year ago, and it is fantastic. But if I were in the market today, I'd get the Spydershaft. Best bang for the buck out there, and Ron is a good guy.

Thanks Don I always enjoy watching yours and your wifes videos at the Drag strip. I wish we had a 1/8 drag strip here, There's a 1/4 one about 15 miles away but I have never raced there just watched.

I just put in the Dennys this weekend and I love it. However, about 40% of the feedback I have heard on Dennys owners have involved some type of vibration at one speed, rpm, or another. Seems too much of a gamble, with the steel just not absorbing the vibration like aluminum, but transimitting it into the chassis.

I love mine though, less NVH than the stock shaft, better gas mileage, quicker spoolup, a LOT less slop in the driveshaft and less clunking noise when shifting and even over bumps. The car even feels lighter and faster. The 3" driveshaft has more clearance on lowered cars and driveshaft loops than the 4" aluminum ones as well.

However, I have heard no negative feedback on the Spyder, and customer service seems to be much faster and better, and the price is better, so if I did it again, I'd go Spyder. Oh, and the Spyder is lighter.

572 plus 20+ shipping for the coast...

or $589.99 shipped from Tillman Speed

I've had no problems with the Coast Aluminum driveshafts... they get my vote! Sold over 50+ and no problems.

My Spyder's shaft went in last week. No problems. Ron is a good guy. And I didn't do any adjustable control arms either with my Steeda sport springs. No rubbing.

Ok I think I know which one I'm going to buy. The next question is the Safety Loop. Do I need 1 or 2 (front and back)??? Can I use a Universal loop, they seem alot cheaper but look like they will do the same thing???

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

You only need one in the front. But, they may not all fit (for example, the Metco loop didn't fit my PH shaft, but the BMR did). Someone with a Spydershaft can tell you which ones will work.

I have the Coast works fine for me, but if the Spyder is cheaper and does the same job I would go with that one. It is hard to disagree with something Don says. He seems to know what he is talking about.

After 6 installs and continuous vibration, I can not recommend Denny's. Seems like you already chose and it was a good choice. My Spyder DS just came in the mail yesterday and I'll be installing by next week. Ron is a great guy to do business with...and you can't beat the price.

Nope, that's it for now (although he he is working on bolt-on S197 traction bars that he calls "BITE BARS"). Ron is just a regular guy who frequented the forums and decided there was a need for a good, affordable alum driveshaft. More power to him... he's done a great job!
