I still have the original O2 sensors, I could put them in for a test I guess.

 

Did you cut them off?? I have my 02's in my o/r pipe and the sensors turned off via my tuner. Did you take them off for the blower? You could always go to auto zone and size it. They usualy have some things to get the size and thread count right. Look by the nuts n bolts....

 

No, not cut off. They're complete and in a plastic bag in my garage. I just never re-installed them... I had them disabled via the tune as well.

 

Ok why did you take them off? I just unscrewed mine from the stock setup and screwed them into the new o/r pipe. You took yours off completely and never reinstalled them? Why did you take them completely off in the first place?


Was it because of the LT's? Have you always had open bungs (now that sounds gross [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrinjester.gif[/img] ) on the H and X through all this?

Well, actually, now that I think about it, I did put them in the X when I originally installed the LTs. But, the X didn't stay on there very long (about 3 days). I replaced it with the H after I heard the trumpeting. And the "H" I was using was part of the factory exhaust that I chopped up. There were no bungs on it. The only bungs I had (the "front" ones) are in the header collectors.

 

Don, I didn't see this mentioned, but did you compare the Magnaflows vs. Bassanis with the X-Pipe?

No, I didn't. I already had the Bassanis on when I swtiched pipes.

 

Ahhh ok don now I see. I forgot you choped your factory H [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img] I would just put the 02's back in just to plug the hole and see if you need to do anything else. If it were me and you likeed the sound of the bungs pluged...then I would chop the excess 02 wire off and leave them in.

 

Don, these Bassani's you put on are the chambered style or the round/straight through style?

don, I seriously think you should swap your dynatech cats for either the SLPs from LMPerformance, or the Bassani from them direct. I think it is as loud as you can go with out trumpets, and it will sound like the SLPs used to but much much louder. This is the route I am going. But it would be nice if somebody else did it first. lol.

The Dynatech headers use a 4-bolt collector flange, which mates up with their hi-flow cat (see pic). It would be a lot of trouble to make another cat fit on there (and I'm not sure I want to do that). And honestly, I'm pretty happy with the sound right now. It sounds pretty aggressive as it is, and while not quite "SLP-level" loud, it's still plenty noisy. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen.gif[/img]

 

im not sure if its possible but what if, instead of adding hi-flows why now add the loudmouth resonators from the old models. would they even do anything to the sound?

Guys, for the love of cake - WTH is this "trumpeting" you're all talking about? A drone? What is it? I have a ProChamber welded to the stock cats and Hooker AeroChamber mufflers. There's a thrumming/drone at exactly 2500RPM and anything not secured to the car vibrates or buzzes. A hair above or below, and it goes away. I will let somebody else answer that one, but I have a question for the rest of you guys..... I am planning to get cams as soon as doug gets them, sooooo do you think that would kill the trumpeting?

 

I believe Dan may have used the term "trumpeting" first here. And the best way I can describe it is an annoying popping "bap-bap-bap-bap-bap" sound. I've also called it a "cropduster" sound. It is not drone. And if you're running stock cats, you won't hear the trumpets.

Removal of the stock cats seems to be a common denominator. And I'll be curious to see how you're going to get the stock cats to work with LTs.
