Do you have the offraod prochamber chevy slayer, and does andybody else out there have the direct fit prochamber with slp lm's, and if so do you hear trumpeting?

 

the setup i have right now is:
JBA long tubes, prochamber and the borlas hooked up. havent heard them from outside, but for the most part, the "trumpeting" sound isnot even that noticable from the inside. i think it sounds pretty good, if you take away the rattleling i get when revving it too high at idle. if im correct the rattleling sound is coming from the the aluminum heat shield on top of the exhaust. when i got my car dyno, i never heard the trumpeting sound, but it was sure loud. the rpochamber just makes the borlas sound deeper, in my opinion

Hmmm... this is the second time Bassanis have gotten a thumbs up with respect to minimal trumpets. They definitely might be another option to check out for me. So, you don't have the stock cats?

I have the Bassani comp cats, xpipe and axlebacks. There is no trumpeting. Now with the longtubes I can't be totally sure it will completely eliminate the trumpeting but when I had Magnapacks , x-pipe and comp cats it trumpeted some. When I switched to the full Bassani setup, it stopped.

Well, the Bassanis are next on my list to test. Hopefully I'll have them in a couple weeks, and I'll see how they work.

Would that be the SLP31062's??

 

I had recently the SLP LM on with the Off-Road H pipe and the sound was killer except for the infamous TRUMPETING!!! Maybe nonsensez9 has an idea here, putting in some resonators to help tame the trumpeting. Hey don_w, would you say that the Magnapacks were louder than the stock mufflers, this may be another route I am looking at! Thanks

 

Craig, I haven't tried the Magnapaks yet, just the Magnaflows. And yes, they are louder than stock.

 

Anyone got the Corsa with Off-Road H (or X)? I've heard sound clips with the stock midpipe and they sound sick! I would have to imagine that they would sound even better without cats, just my $.02

yes. I'm seriously considering adding them to my stock set-up. I'd prefer quieter with little loss of power. don't know if it would work, though. Cheap enough to try, but have to replace some pipes if it doesn't work out. or maybe a shop could weld them back together? [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif[/img]

Really! Hmmmmmm......I'm just lookin for an axle back system that is loud and will not trumpet as bad as with the SLP's. I can deal with a little trumpet like what I have with my stock mufflers but not what I had with just straight pipes! Sound clip of your set up would be awesome! Anymore with an off-road pipe and borlas/frpp?

I said this before, but I love my standard Magnaflow Mufflers. There is no noticeable trumpeting and it's a stealth system. Around here the police is a little strict with stupid violations, one being loud exhaust. Under idle and partial throttle the exhaust is tame, but under WOT it sounds fairly loud and very muscular. I love loud exhausts and that muscular sound, but IMO my setup is perfect. You want to hear loud, listen to an off-shore racing boat. My friend has 2 572 BB Chevys in his boat and that thing is loud!!

 

Just so I'm clear. We're talking about the 2500-2700rpm "trumpet" right? The only reason you should have any problems in that rpm range is because you're shifting late. Any type of "spirited" driving should be close to WOT and therefor the trumpet wouldnt be much louder. I have them, but I didn't even realize I had them until I shifted directly into that rpm range. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif[/img] Idle & WOT are superb though [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumb.gif[/img]

Thats exactly right. It only does it within that rpm range. The only reason it is annoying is because during normal driving, everytime you shift it falls right back into that 2500-2700 rpm range and the car sounds disgusting. Maybe a set of 4.10s will cure that problem and I'll be in a different rpm range.
