New surround heat shield for JLT CAI

I noticed that Jay has a new heat shield for the JLT CAI.

It a new surround design like some of the comptetitors.

I have the orignal JLT CAI (Version 1) with the metal insert fix. I had the original w/o the insert before that that melted on me :/ Jay was nice enough to send me a new one for free and it's been working great ever since.

I currently have the first heat shield design which is simply a flat panel which probably does nothing for performance. Does the new surround design do anything as far as performance goes? I like the way it keeps the pipe from moving around - that in itself may be a reason to use it. I'm not sure if the new heat shield is compatible with the first CAI version.

Get the MMR heatshield instead of the new JLT one.

Thats a matter of opinion, much like why someone would ever use Amsoil over Mobil 1.

LOL, hey, what's wrong with Amsoil! j/k Not trying to thread jack.

I did some datalogging with my IAT. After the car moves a few seconds, even slowly at 30MPH, the IAT drops very rapidly to only a few degrees above ambient, so I'm not really worried about the heat shield.

And I have the same gen 1 JLT with metal sleeve insert fix and single side heat shield like you.

I doubt that the JLT heat shield does much of anything (I have one btw) but it's nice to add some support to the tube and air cleaner rather than it resting on that hose.

Exactly. I picked up the MMR because JLT hadn't come out with a tube supporting shield yet.

Actually, its not really a matter of opinion. Data logging, drag and dyno testing has shown that those shields dont do much of anything.

Same thing goes for Amsoil over Mobil 1. Take care!

I think someone used the letter "G" in the Off Topic forums, better go hijack the thread with how much you dislike JR and Granatelli.

In the mean time, I'll be looking for your degree showing any experience in anything related to thermodynamics or even basic heatflow and transfer.

And these heatshields probably do about as much as billet radiator caps. I don't think anyone argued anything different.

And there is plenty of information floating about talking about how much of a joke Amsoil is. If you want a super premium oil, go with Redline. Period. Or you can use Amsoil and have the weight of your oil magically rise directly proportional to how many miles you have between changes.

Have a nice day

Hey, let's stay on topic, and off the oil subject.

I have degree in Aerospace Engineering and I was a Nuclear Reactor Operator with dozens of courses and years of experience in thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and materials.

Can I have your permission to add something?

Sure. I do deep well geothermal heat transfer myself.

And it just peeves me when someone comes to a thread, aka Cleveland, for no other reason but to crap on it. When almost every post I've read by him in the past month is seemingly a thread crap, I'm just tired of it.

I like my MMR shield because it's an attractive piece of fiberglass and gives my intake tube some support near the fenderwell and keeps it off my hoses. Whether it adds 1 HP or less I don't really care.

You do realize they are one in the same and that you don't have to refer to them as separate entities, right?

for that matter, you do realize that your first post in this thread was doing exactly what you are crying about Dan doing.

JR is a person, the figurehead of Granatelli. Granatelli is a business, which can be referred to separately from JR.

Since Granatelli Motorsports is a corporation, it is legally a separate entity from JR.

Here is an example of using this in proper context.

"I really don't like JR, but Granatelli is okay"

or

"JR is an **** and Granatelli stuff is stinky!!!!" < -- for you Cleveland

In the first example I am not contradicting myself, because JR and Granatelli are infact two separate entities, one is a person and the other is a business. The relation of these two is separable based on the laws which say they are separate.
I'm always around if anyone else needs a lesson!

Well when people post mind boggling nonsense, such as Cleveland and now Hawg, I have to correct these indiscretions for the good of the forums. People that look to these posts in the future can't have blatantly idiotic information for reference.

Heck, someone might actually have thought Amsoil was good oil, heatshields added horsepower, continued to believe that a corporate and personal identity were one in the same, or Cleveland actually had something constructive or even correct to say!

I'm just doing my duty.

Think of me as a forum crusader, posting for what is right and good. A light in the darkness of negative IQ's.
