new to mods need help

hi everyone.

I'm a converted gm guy this is my first ford. the 0% financing sold me from getting used to new. I purchased on ebay from an 05 gt a steeda intake and an sct tunner. the guy said since we both have 5spd man i can use the programmer and his tunes. after reading a lot of posts i get the impression i cant do that. so where would you guys recomend i get tunes from? where does the hand held go is in engine bay or under dash? is the car on or off. and how do you pm someone? thanks for all the help.

First, welcome to the boards. There is lots of useful information and several people who are willing to offer advice.

First question would be: Did the previous owner of the tuner have a stock car (with the exception of the intake) or were there other modifications done? What tunes were programmed into the tuner, i.e., was there a 87-octane hp tune, 91-octane race tune, etc?

If I were you, I would get as much information from the guy who sold you the tuner and intake, and take it from there.

Doug already answered your question.

And, the handheld plugs in the OBD-II port under the dash as illustrated here.

Before buying your next mod, do your homework here to avoid any compatibility issues.

There are different calibration codes, even among the same model years. If the previous owner's calibration code is different than yours, you're outta luck- won't work.

cross check you calibration code with the guy you bought the sct from. if it's different, tunes won't work.

with bam tune, you probably are talking about BamaChips tune. Doug is the man. Check www.bamachips.com

IUP = Interior Upgd Pkg

Hope this helps

update for everyone.
i was able to unlock my sct with the help from bill. thanks. I downloaded the 93 race tune with seeda cold air kit. car sounds awsome but it seems like it sergues when i take off. when i came home the check engine light came on. the tcs light on the dash was lite the whole time. do you think a new tune should fix all this. i do have 3/4 of a tank with 91oct.
thanks again for all your help

If the SCT is anything like the Diablosport Predator, which I have, to use the 93 tune with 91 octane you simply modify the tune by using the global spark adjuster function of the tuner. Remove 2 degrees for 91 octane.
