New centri on the market...... best one yet?

Anyone read the July issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine?

There's a new centri-style blower made by Forced Air Performance. They call it the Rotrex and it (quote) "is a centri that basically uses the intake side of a turbo to produce boost and is turned by a unique traction-drive system. The traction-drive planetary is based on the same theory employed in an automatic transmission."

Looks like it's smaller than blowers of similar power output, takes less power to spin it, and revs much higher than other brands.

Bow down, Procharger, Vortech, and Paxton??

OO, this has me intrigued although I kind of have another route in mind besides supercharging that seems to more fit my driving habits/wallet...

Nice catch Tom, definately looks like it's worth researching some more!

BTW: Every time I think I've talked myself out of going FI (at least for now), someone always finds something to peak my interest again.... My wife is going to STRANGLE me. LOL

I read that same article with the Rotrex. I doubt it will out perform what's already available as far as ''max boost'' goes even though it does run slower on the belt side. Procharger already has some pretty darn large centris that can be upgraded to. I wonder how quiet this thing is though. The article never even mentioned that. Planetary gear drives employ quite a few moving parts to change a given ratio. I just wonder how much this thing costs knowing it's made over in Europe.

Are there any sites to check this blower out at? I wonder what the price tag is?

Since it has turbo technology I wonder what it sounds like.

I don't know much about it, but when I had my 2001 silverado I would cruse the internet for cool go fast parts and Wheel2Wheel has had that SC for the silverado for years. I do know that Wheel2Wheel Powertrain is a good place, give them a call to get more info.

Hey Tom, this brand of blower is TOP NOTCH! Did you read in the article that stated about Rotrex being the supplier of the supercharger for the Koenigsegg CCX supercar in Sweden? That car is SICK FAST, and the blowers (yes, the CCX has 2 of them ) help keep the reputation it has, as one of the wildest exotic cars in the world!! I like the setup and would go for it with no worries!!!

I like the idea but I think it is interesting that they make no HP claims and when I click on the dyno I get nothing.

Yes! My understanding is that they supply several different OEM setups overseas.

I believe there was dyno numbers in the magazine article.....If I'm remembering correctly it was over 400 hp and torque at the wheels.

It did have dyno #'s in the article. They say this thing runs like up to 90,000 rpm's. That sounds pretty fast, but we'll see how they work out when people start buying them. Sounds like a nice set up.

$6200 seems a bit steep.

several companies have been testing the rotrex chargers for awhile now . Mostly on the import scene. It is a good concept but time will tell how it actually performs and holds up. not sure I would want to be a guinea pig on this kit right away
