Question Need a computer geek who knows the predator

Hi,
I can’t upload or download to my predator from my laptop. I am using a serial port cable and have followed the instructions from Diablosport about configuring the Com 1 port.
It worked fine with my old laptop, but not with this one. I get “Could not open Com port. Please make sure you opened the correct one and that it is not being used by another program” when I try to download. Could it be a firewall setting?
Thanks for any help.
Paul

What port are you using? On my laptop I couldn't get it to recognize any port higher then com 4, the software that is.

Also make sure you have the port setting at 115200 on the DS downloader for the new 05 and up cars.

Thanks Doug

Exactly... set the baud rate at 115200. Additionally, make sure if you're using a serial to usb adapter, or something similar that a COM port is assigned.

Check in device manager and make sure you have one listed. Also, like Doug said make sure it's on 1-4 preferably 1-2. There is only 2 true com ports on a computer due to 1 and 3 share an irq and 2 and 4 share an irq. Also, do you have an internal modem? What com port is it on? Make sure your com port you are connecting to doesn't use the same com port as the modem. My guess is that your com port may be disabled.

Thanks for the help guys, I finally got it to work.
The baud rates and everything else were good, and the port was enabled, but I finally noticed under "Network Connection" that a profile had been configured using COM 1.
On my laptop, COM1 is assigned as "Communication cable between two computers". Once I disabled the profile (not in use anyway), everything worked fine.
