My First Official Times For Your Scrutiny
Guys,
This past saturday I got to take my car to the track. I got to do 2 or 3 runs on a cold night in september, but these were the first ones i've done during the day.
It was really hot and humid, so that would help to explain why my times were on the high side. A couple of other guys with '05's were running similar times due to the heat. We were racing from 11:30 to 1:30.. the hottest time of the day
I'll probably hit the track on June 16th in the evening, hopefully with some cooler air, i'll knock my times down quite a bit
I ran stock tire pressure and a 93 octane performance tune
Any comments, suggestions, criticism is welcomed
I am car 9800, my best time was 13.943 @ 102.32

Steve,
First thing I would suggest is your tire pressure. I run 22-24 psi's of air in the rear tires and pump the fronts up to 50. That will help your 60ft times. I saw you cut a 2.1. On a near perfect run with your mods, you should be able to cut a 1.9X short time. Also try shallow staging in the lane. This will help a smidge with both your ET and trap. Other than that, you could remove the front sway bar and spare tire to pick up a little time.
Also, what elevation are you at? When I had similar mods as you I was able to cut a 13.208 @ 106. My local track is at 600ft.

With some practice, I will develop some consistency as well, i've done less that 10 trips down the 1/4 in my car in the last year.
I stunk up the launch on my best time, the 13.943, Had I launched it better, I think i would have cut a much better time. My shifting was the best of the day and I left my hood up while waiting in the staging lanes.
I'll change the tire pressure for my next trip, and hopefully the air won't be as humid.

I turned a 13.678 @ 103.3 in my stock 2006 GT with manual trans and stock tires (18 inch wheels). What are your launching RPMs and where are you shifting? Also, did you go through the traps in 3rd or 4th gear?
I've been launching at right around 2000 and shifting at 6000, ending the 1/4 mile in 3rd gear. At launch, I need to feather on tha gas slightly or risk too much tire spin. DRs would help.

I was launching at a little higher than you, at about 2500 rpm. The track was pretty sticky and hot with the sun, at lower RPM's I was bogging it.
I was shifting about about 6 grand as well... I tried to shift into 4th by the end of the track.
I think the very high humidity that day contributed to lower e-t's
Hopefully get some more runs in a few weeks

I don't think the numbers are too bad for the conditions. My first trip to the track last June was on a hot day, with a nasty headwind. All I had on the car was the C&L CAI, and a canned Predator tune. Still had the stock 3.31 gears and street tires. The best I could run that day was 13.92 @ 98.48 mph (with a 2.099 60' time).

I was there and saw Steve run those times.
I will say that the track was hot and hummid, but there s a slight crosswind/tailwind depending on the time... me and ben were pretty much eating tire smoke for a while.... tasty....
Steves times improved as the day went on, as did his technique...even though the weather got hotter/more hummid.
So basically..had you been doing what you were doing on the last run .. in the beginning... would have helped your times me think....
It was cool to watch all the cars, and I'll giver a go next time we all hookup
