Well, I brought her into the shop to put in new FRPP 4.10s, Steeda Pulley and Steeda Sport Springs and I figured I'd do a dyno. Well, the numbers look AWESOME! A little too awesome, I'm afraid. Anyone care to comment?

P.S. How do i post the thumbnail and make it clickable? Thanks.

actually, on the graph is a hp of 282hp/276 tq(these are probably closer to your real numbers. It looks like they hammered it and it downshifted throwing off the dyno.

I would agree with the 282/276 being reasonable. Unless they lock the auto tranny in 4th, they always get that "convertor" spike in the middle. But, the curves are completely wacky too... they shouldn't lay on top of each other at the lower rpms.

Thanks for all the replies. Don't really care about getting my $ back. They did a good job installing my parts. More importantly, anyone know of a good dyno shop in NYC (preferrably Queens)?

Oh, and the FRPP 4.10s and Steeda Pulleys are a DREAM! Popped in Doug's Automagic 93 Torque tune for the 4.10s and wow, what a difference!

glad you like the 4.10s with the auto tranny. ive been trying to tell people that the best gears for the manual are 4.30s and best gears for the auto are 4.10s. enjoy!

(yes that is a totally biased and opinion-driven fact)

I just got a C&L and XCT X2 tuner and plan to install it in a week or so. I just went to Excessive Motorsports in Manassas to get a couple runs on the Dyno to get a starting baseline for my GT. The first run was around 271hp/285 Torque. After the first run we pulled the charcoal canister out of the stock intake tube and that bumbed it up 6 hp! Total was 277hp & 301 Torque, not bad for an out of the box Mustang. I’m looking to hit the 300hp mark and I’m hoping the CAI and tune will do it. It will be nice to get rid of that pesky throttle hesitation too.

Why are you going to wait a week? The entire kit takes less than 1 hour to do, and you will be very happy!

I've been out of town this weekend so no time to do the install. It goes into the paint shop next week and I have to do some prep to it before that, so my plate is pretty full. Knowing me I'l dive into it this week, it's killing me to just look at it in the box.

Hey Kilmar,

The way to fix this is to tell them not to floor it in 4th until they reach about 3500 rpm's and this will help, still not fix it completely. If you are familiar with how to load tunes on an X-2 I can send you a file setup for the dyno that will lock your car in 4th and lock the converter so you wont have any spike at all. Just let me know bamachips@gmail.com

Thanks, Doug

2nd dyno, numbers looks much more normal, but there are some roughness on the graph. Not sure why.

That was the 7th, 8th, and 9th pull. You should see the first six. He tried manually shifting to 3rd, and got some graphs that look like seismic graphs for an earthquake. He then tried D only with 93 Perf tune from Doug and I got 384 HP and 370 TQ as my number (wish that was real). The first 6 times were a mess. We got numbers from 254 thru 384 for HP and the graph was all over the place.

The last 3 shown were actually the closest things to a curve. They used Doug's dyno tune which locks the car at 4th gear after 20 mph. I had them put it on D and rev it up, it still looks pretty bad. At least the numbers kind of add up for the mods I have in the car.

I wish someone could tell me how they SHOULD dyno an auto (or at least tell me some place in NYC that knows how to dyno an auto).
