I thought I would share this article because it is informative with regard to the power limitations of the 4.6L engine. A lot of it is old hat but theres some good information on the piston design. It's also a bit Steeda bias but hey they did their homework.

Keep in mind, like all car computers, they 'learn' based on driving habits, changes in air/fuel mixture, etc. So a small mod like an air filter you can disconnect the + battery for a few minutes, then reconnect it. The computer will then recalibrate based on the new info. But we all know a new tune is needed on the S197s anyway, so might as well reflash.

Great Article,

I think I want to keep my Saleen SC application to around 400hp... I guess that is why Saleen settled on 4-5psi with a water to air intercooler...

I keep wondering if it is worth just putting forged internals in when the SC is installed to avoid block/cylinder/valve damage...

Eventually u will get used to the power at 4-5 pound and will be tempted to up the boosts. Do it right the first time if u have the money and crank up the boost to 8-10 pounds , should be a beast. Good Luck

Good read.

Quick question, do the S197s have a two-piece rear axle, or should this have read two-piece driveshaft?

"Orlando says the '05 GT's Tremec 3650 five-speed manual transmission is a great transmission with stout gears. There have been no issues with the '05's two-piece rear axle, which is utilized mainly for NVH (noise, vibration, harshness)."
