Mod time...

Ok, so in a few weeks I will be doing some full fledge mods to my 'Stang.

I really don't know where to start, but this is what I have in mind:
  1. CDC Shaker
  2. CDC Tri-Bar Pony black grill
  3. CDC Aggressive Chin spoiler
  4. Lowering Springs - Eibach
  5. Headers - Kooks
  6. Cams - FRPP Hot Rod Cams
  7. Underdrive Pulleys - Steeda
  8. BamaChips X3 and tune
What do you guys think? Anything I should subtract/add? I am weary on headers because I know how much of a PITA they are and I don't want to go through the headaches of replacing gaskets every so often....

My whole thing is, I want to keep the car for a long time, so I would like to use the warranties as long as possible, but I am not happy with the stock form of the car. I do want to add to it, but what would be the safest way to do this to keep it intact? In the end, I may just say screw it, and buy all these parts anyway.

If you want to preserve the warranty,I would hold off on the pullies, cams and headers. the tune can easily be changed back as well as the CAI. This is my opinion of course.

I'm with Chuck on this one. If you want to maintain the warranty, then hold off (headers, UDPs and cams), otherwise bite the bullet like most of us and happy modding.

Headers are not a pain if done correctly of course! Read on the "Pulled the trigger on LTs" thread and you'll get an idea on what's required for that (there are a couple that went with Kooks, majority is choosing OBX for the cost, including me! I have mine on the way)

You have headers listed, but no mid pipe?

Personally, you have roughly 3grand worth of parts listed not even getting into tuning money/mid pipe. Have you thought about the idea of saving your money for another 6months and putting on a superchager? (How old are you? I see the 89 at the end of your screen name and only assume it means you were born in 1989?)

If you are dead set on sticking to your list, I would ditch the Kooks in favor of Hooker/JBA/BBK as a cheaper but still VERY reliable piece all with near identical power increases.

In addition, I would hold off on the Hot Rod cams until Tribalec (Sp.?) gets his dyno numbers back as there are no REAL world numbers or impressions on these cams street manners other than they have a mean idle with NSR.

The best place to start, IMO, is with the Bamachips X3 race tune. I run the Bamachips 93 Race tune, great tune, and also Doug will email you tune updates for free! For example: I bought the X3 with JLT from Bama, installed it and enjoyed it. Then I installed my LT's, called Doug and he emailed me the update tune for them for free! So with long term plans of bolt ons, this is perfect! But with major mods (cams, S/C, turbo, NX, heads....) a dyno tune will be needed, and with a dyno tune the shop can upload the dyno tune to the X3 (if their shop supports the software).

I am not looking for racing or performance. I just want something that sounds mean, looks mean. I am fine with the stock performance of the car, I am just looking at making it sound old school.

I have more of an updated list of what I want to do...I am going to get the FRPP springs instead, and I probably wont even do headers.

Oh and yeah, I am 18...and as far as superchargers...meh, doesn't really interest me. Like I said, 300hp is enough for me. I don't want to kill myself. HAH

Well the first thing you need to decide is whether or not you want to keep your warranty intact. The mod list will need to be trimmed a bit if you want to keep it. I know I sound like your dad but ...

At this point...no. I am getting a Ford Focus, which will be my beater, so the Mustang will see more garage time than driving time. I can live with paying for something out of pocket, since I decided to tamper with it ;-)

At this point, I am not even sure I want headers. I don't think it's worth the hassle.

Does anyone know if the CDC Shaker is compatible with the aftermarket BBK CAI?

As far as I know...yes. Just get a tune from Brenspeed w/ a CAI and you'll be fine for performance mods from the sound of it.

I am 19 and ever since I got the car I just started piecing together cash for parts and projects. IMO my best bang for the buck mods include 1) Gears, 2) Intake/Tuner, 3) Longtubes/X/Pypes MM

Oh and while you say, 'I like the stock power- I don't need a supercharger'...A time will come

PS: If I was you I would, for the time being, Cross off the Underdrive Pullies and Cams.

At this point, I'm not even going to worry about UD's pully's. I really do want the FRPP cams, regardless of whether they don't add power or not. I will probably put them on at the end of the summer. Right now, I want to focus on exterior mods, and possibly the BBK TB and Shaker.

Ok, so I just ordered pretty much all my mods. The only thing I have left to buy would be the Shaker and the FRPP cams (when they're ready). I will most likely get them towards the end of the summer.

So here's what I just ordered:

Agent 47 Race Mirrors - Silverhorse
TruBillet Cup Holder Bezel - Silverhorse
Hood Struts - Brenspeed
Aggressive Chin Spoiler - Brenspeed
BBK Twin throttle body - Brenspeed
GT500 Auto Pedals and Dead Pedal - CDC
Redfire Strut Covers - American Muscle
GT Floor Mats - American Muscle
Mustang decal for rear brake light - American Muscle

After lunch today, I will be ordering the SCTx3 with tunes from Doug. I should have a fun time in the garage next weekend putting on the TB, Spoiler and the Mirrors. HAHAH *mad scientist music playing*

i did not see the lowering springs that was in your first post. anyway, i'd rethink the eibach's. they were low, IMO, for the classic chin spoiler which i had and had to go with FRPP's to avoid too much spoiler scraping .

I have actually reconsidered some the springs. I decided I do not want them, or the under drive pullys. I am just going to settle for the Shaker and Cams and then I am done.

What are the best tunes to get from BamaChips? So far I took 93 Perf, Torque and Race. What do you guys think?

I'm running the 93 Race tune from Bamachips, it rocks! I had the car dyno'd and the air/fuel is right on the mark. Throttle response is incredible, very fun to drive. It's not my daily driver so I can deal with only using 93 in it.

I just edited my post, but I actually ordered each version of 93: perf, torque and race. Nice to know about the race, I might even just use that. Granted it won't be used as a daily driver anymore, but it will be nice to switch to that every now and then. She's a daily driver now, but not until a few weeks go by. I'm getting a new (used) car, possibly a 04 Focus. 4 banger for a daily driver beater.

Good move. My other ride is a Ford Escort, gets me where I need to go. I run the 93 race tune in the 'stang all the time, runs awesome on it.
