Mod Advice, Forgive my stupidity.

I personally don't have 4.6 stang but I'm researching for a friend. Hes got a 07 GT, 5 speed, JLT cold air, SCT with tunes for life and a 373 gear. He talks about modding his car and hes torn between a pro charger and going all out N/A. A guy that does work on mustangs thats local said 400rwhp is about all you can get N/A is this true? he wants to keep it a street car that will see the track maybe 5 times a year. Also what do you think should come next on his mod list a set of longtubes and what are some good heads/cams to go with if he goes N/A? It doesn't seem right saying cams lol I've got LS1s (still like mustangs) thanks

Get a vortech supercharger, try brenspeed they have it for the best price, and dont bother goin N/A,your friend gona end up paying more then with a vortech ( 3800$) complete with everything you gona need wich adds you 150rwhp and still go with headers and cams (detroit rockers) they sound awsome and perfect street driveability, www.brenspeed.com ,theyre made by comp cams and designed by brenspeed.... And if its an auto, get a torque converter,3000 stall, try tci street fighter wich is a lockup tc and while cruising no slipping but perfect for the boost lag and cams torque wich your gona be about 3000,and 3.73 gears are perfect for SC and 4.1 for N/A

So where will that put him about 450rwhp? What does he need to change underneath the car to hold up to the power. I know they have a 2 piece drive line. In the F-bodys the clutch and rearend are the weak links. That and being unibody. His car is a manual.

500hp to the flywheel is the safe limit without doing any major upgrades, like transmission, driveshaft, rear end,but above that,it would be a time machine waiting to blow up,but some hav had no issues going above that but every car is different...

That would get him to 460rwhp wich I would go for

Yea thats about right. The Saleen supercharger by brenspeed would be the best bang for your buck if your friend wanna feel instant boost as soon as he hit the throttle. Prochargers & paxtson charger takes RPMs to make boost so it takes time to kick in. N/A is ok if your on a budget but he wont be as happy with it versus having supercharged it. But thats just my opinion

I agree- IMO a positive displacement blower would be more fun everyday- torque right off idle is where the fun is for a street car...at the track, hp is hp, centrifugal will be cheaper, but like 4k vs 5k, I'd spend the extra and go positive displacement. A buddy has a KB on his 2005 auto, runs 12.3 on drag radials, everything else stock...with 3.73s I bet he'd be high 11s

strongly suggest changing tranny oil, I messed mine up powershifting, royal purple oil fixed it right up...I know I still need to replace the 2nd synchro, but the oil totally eliminated missing third(just falls right into gear immediately after the oil change- like a new shifter?) and fixed my balky 2nd enough that I bet it never woulda been hurt in the first place had I ran the better oil

tell your friend to join up

I've always heard about 450 at the flywheel is about all it could handle....

Well the problem is that with centrifugal s/c it boost up around 3000rpm wich wont hurt your overall car as much as with the other superchargers, and I did alot of research and the safe number depends on each car but many of them suggest 500hp to the flywheel for a safe limit

I would say save for the Saleen super shaker supercharger if you have the money ... that thing is sick... as for me I am going full bolt on I have heads cams left to install and may get a torque converter... im doing a 12.9 at the track now with the mods listed below .. if I get into the high elevens then im happy ... I know they say the 4.6 can handle about 450-500 hp from a sc but I would rather have forged internals to be on the safe side..

Stock on slick street tires his car ran 14.6, after the intake, tune, and gear he ran 14.0. His car scratches 2nd sometimes when he slams em. I've drove the car and it shifts great I think. Its very smooth. Honestly I think he just wants to make 450 rwhp lol. Hes got a guy with a cammed GTO he wants to take on.

unless your at 6000 feet, think he needs to burn some more gas at the track

I'm the first to admit Im not that coordinated, but still, mine bone stock ran a best of 13.78 @ 103, and my 60 foot was like 2.2...if I could take off right it *shoulda* been closer to 13.5
with intake/tune/gears, would think he should be in the 13.0 range or better
at the track, 2nd always barks hard, and always chirps third too if shifting over 5500.

We run at thunder valley in Bristol, Tn I'm not sure about the DA. I know in my camaro headers,a lid, 410 gear I run 13.1 at 107 with a 2.0 60 on riken raptors. I think the problem is the launch from the slick tires. Also what should you shift at N/A I shift at 6k in his car and he winds in on out to 64 65 ish.
