MM & FF Feb 07 DVD

hello all,
In the DVD...
Very interesting test:

stock GT 279 rwhp
303 rwhp with C&L intake, diablo tune, BBK throttle body.
311 rwhp add bbk underdrive pullies...

they proved it on the dyno however, that is a lot of rwhp gain from intake bolt-ons!!

all i can say is WOW! glad i got a Mustang GT!!

For whatever reason, the DVD only came with the newsstand version of the mag.

Gotta wonder though...
The highest I've ever heard of is 275.
Still, the improvements should be the same numbers over stock.

Yeah, 279 rwhp + 292 rwqt and 13.2's in the 1/4 mile on a stock car. That's pushing it alittle to me. The most I've EVER seen a stock manual GT is 269 rwhp and around 285rwtq.

Then the BBK adding 7rwhp, that's almost as funny as the $2000+ exhaust they installed and made 10-12 rwhp from.

Good video for newbie's I guess, shows alot of good installation information. Still the numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, to me they are just high.

thanks, Doug.

Doug Have a Great New Year!

Tms has Been Very Good to me as well. It's The People who make the website and I have chatted with so many and always enjoy it! They are simply wonderful and many are fiercely Loyal and take the time to give referrals to their Vendors who in many cases are friends they have just never met.

Best of Luck to you Doug!
You Deserve it!

I'm no expert on this but you should also take into consideration that not all dynojets are calibrated in the same way just as 2 identical cars with similar engines/ECM's are also not calibrated the same ?.. you should also take into account that factors such as atmospheric conditions, type of fuel grade being used in addition to calibration accuracy are also just as important in how readings are calculated from one vehicle to another ?? I also agree with Doug that 279 HP for a stock 06 Mustang GT. is quite high and here's something else IMO that's inaccurate.. according to the DVD ? JDM also claims the C&L street intake is 95mm. in diameter which is also not accurate ?..the C&L MAF in reality is 83mm which I believe Doug can confirm this if I'm not mistaken ?

Doesnt the C&L intake have the 95mm mass air housing and the street kit has a 83mm?

The C&L race intake has the 95mm housing..However the C&L street intake has 83mm housing and according to the DVD ? JDM clearly stated they installed the C&L street intake and claimed it was 95mm which is not true at all..

again, it's not whether the #'s are right or not ? it all depends on calibration accuracy, atmospheric conditions, mods and type of fuel grade..But yes what the video claimed about the C&L street intake being 95mm is definitely inaccurate..

I wouldn't believe those numbers...... FWIW my stock hp was 264. Now with cai, pullies, delete plates, offroad mid pipe, mufflers, and custom dyno tune I'm at 303. I've seen cars on the same dyno with similar mods to mine but even with longtube headers that struggle to break the 300 mark.

Also FYI, I was at 296 and added the delete plates and pullies, along with the custom tune, and got that 303 figure. At the same time I added 4.10 gears, which probably caused the dyno to read lower by about 5 horse so I would estimate that the plates and pullies along with the retune got me about 12 horsepower total.

Yes, you are correct...

Hi all,

Lee from C&L here...

JDM is mistaken when speaking about our air intake assembly in the DVD. At one point, they refer to it as a 90mm, and then as a 95mm at another point in the video. Only our "racer" intake features a 95mm MAF section, with the "Street" kit coming in at 83mm. The "Racer" intake flows 1,070 CFM (see attached images), while the "Street" intake flows 1,003 CFM (about 7% less). MOST vehicles will not see a performance difference between the two kits, but we have received reports from tuners (such as Brenspeed) that they DID see a few more HP with the racer intake on higher-HP naturally aspirated applications with cam swaps.

We are supplying this DVD as a "perk" to those who purchase either of our intake assemblies for the '05+ Mustangs. With it, we have composed a little note that addresses these inaccuracies on the DVD. We have NEVER seen more than 265 HP (SAE corrected) on a Dynojet dyno, with most cars making 260-263. I have no idea why this vehicle posted such high stock numbers, but the "baseline" track testing seems to coincide with what you would expect to see from a 278 rear wheel HP GT with a good driver. And we certainly would not represent to any customer that the addition of our intake and tune on an otherwise stock '05+ GT would deliver over 292 HP at the wheels. Most typical cars will see about 283 HP at the wheels with either of our intakes and a proper 93 octane tune, with a peak gain of as much as 26-30 HP at 6,200 RPM. The "peak before versus peak after" numbers, which are measured at a lower RPM point (5,400-5,500) is usually in the 20-23 HP range...

There is an example of "truth in advertising" and it's nice to see C&L step up to the plate instead of trying tp explain away the numbers.
