Mission Completion...finally in the 11's... with bolt-ons only!!

here's tonights runs:
12.030 @ 113.48
12.012 @ 112.90
12.01 @ 112.35

11.98@ 110.10

then last ditch bonzai run with no belt

11.893 @ 111.04
the mph was low on all the runs tonight(-3 to 5mph from previous days) cause the engine developed a misfire on top end and i think i finally killed the battery from last weeks drain(left the fan on trying to fix a flat) so tomorrow it gets a new battery and hopefully it cures the problem. if not for that it could have been a low 11.8- run.
I have many people to thank for helping me reach my goal including God, my wife & kids and:
Woodbine Motorsports, Dyno Joe, Bamachips, all you guys/gals here on the forum(s), my customers & dealers and lots more that i'll email personally.
what next?
there is a zex kit coming my way and i'll shoot for mid 10's maybe?

The time posted in your sig is different than what you wrote in the first post. You wrote 11.89 @ 111.04, but your signature says 11.89 @ 114.77...so which one is it?

I gather that 11.89 is best ET to date and the 114.7 is the best MPH to date.

I'm not sure that I believe those times with only bolt ons....... Unless it includes a 100 shot or more of Nitrous.

MM&FF has their 2005 project car with an intercooled Whipple with full bolt ons and it ran a 11.54 @ 120 mph. That car had around 500 hp.

Believe it. I've seen him run under 12.10 here in Maryland. See http://www.modularfords.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=95202 for details of mods. Ron is a consummate tinkerer and squeezes out the last bit of performance with painstaking trial and error. A lot of problem with our cars is getting the power to the ground and shedding excess weight. Check out the thread above...

well i have no idea why their car doesn't run faster given the amount of power they have but i can assure you there are no power adders of any type on my car and that was done on 93 octane pump gas with some octane booster.
john (jwgroovin)lives a few miles away and has seen my car run on a few occassions and will confirm it is all motor and a stock one at that
if you take notes and mess with stuff enough you will find a combo that works thats all i've done along with trying to optimize every area i can. it's all about using every last bit of power you have available. i've left nothing on the table.

the mph was very low on the 11.89 run cause it was missing on top end(yep it could have run even quicker if not for that).
my best mph is 114.77 and best e.t. is 11.89 i just didn't feel the need to separate them.

I would love to know some of the tweaks you've done to the supension... Like pinion angle your runnning at? and angle of your lower control arms, are you using a relocation brackets? stuff like that.. I'm having trouble getting mine to give up any kind of good 60' time.

numbers are only as good as the driver behind the wheel and what's under the hood.

I gotta give props to the big guy for helping me beat the cancer and for keeping me healthy enough to race the whole time i went through the treatments. I think God loves drag racing.....and Spydershafts

as far as my suspension goes i have a little different setup than the normal car:
the front struts are adjustable strange engineering struts with coilovers(fox body style struts with camber plate adapters for the spindle and custom billet upper strut mounts allow them to bolt in to the s197) and my AJE a-arms are 1.5" shorter to help move the front tire inboard so they don't stick out of the fenders.
the rear is as follows:
strange engineering fox body shocks (they do bolt right in using 3-4 washers as a spacer), stock springs, stock UCA with urethane bushings, tubular LCA's with urethane bushings and the torque links i have developed which i call bite bars. once andyman installs his and gets me some more track data and an independent evaluation i'll start selling them on my website. the race version like i use has solid rod ends which are a little noisy on the street but the new ones are urethane and should be much quieter and still work just as well.
the bars work similar to the old school leaf spring ladder bars meaning they effectively shorten the Instant Center to the front lower control arm bolt location which is about 3 feet shorter than stock. this means the tires plant extremely hard and there is no squat on the initial hit like stock suspension does. i'm actually able to use the lightest setting on my rear shocks which allows the hardest hit possible to the tires.
with this setup i run my front struts at the #8 setting at the track which is almost the stiffest setting they have. this stops the car from trying to raise the front end and wasting energy to go up and not forward.
totally opposite of the normal s197 that needs the rear shocks run stiff and the front struts soft.
pinion angle is -2degrees and ride height is stock in the rear.
i use m/t e.t. streets (bias ply) with no tubes @ 22 psi
with this combo of suspension along with my other mods i have 60' times consistantly in the 1.65-1.70 range and a best of 1.602 all with an auto and n/a

I should have put a smiley face after I said it. Didn't mean it in a mean spirited way. Just thought it sounded funny is all. Anyway, good job on the car, and good job sticking around.
