Well, I am excited that I finally received my tires and wheels and had them mounted. I just thought to take a pic and show everyone. I'm hoping it doesn't rain too much too late tomorrow so that I can go to the track. It was a fiasco getting the tires for no reason at all! I'll save you all the story. This should probably be in the Exterior mods thread, but I kinda see this as a performance mod. They are necessary for me to get down the track faster as opposed to looking pretty.
I see 12's a comin!

17x9 Anthracite bullitts from MRT-$116 (I think)
26x11.5x17 Mickey Thompson ET Street-$169.00/ea.
Mount and Balance-$40.00 (from a race shop-not your local tires store).

You'll be in style at the strip for sure! Hope you get some great times.
Will you install the wheels/tires at the strip? Only mention this because they will be wicked if it starts to rain with them on.

I would love to install them at the strip, but I live only 15 miles or so from the track and trailering the car just isn't worth it. The problem is putting the stock tires somewhere without them "rolling off."

right, 6000 just makes me cringe thinking of the potential damage. I'll be starting off at 4000 and bumping up from there.

I've got ET streets on my 92, and ride around every where w/ them. I would just drive it to the track on the ET's.

Those are nice
Was it because of weight that you stayed with 17" wheels?

stock rims with slicks would be afraid the centers break out. buy weld racing rims for safety.

you're worrying too much....go to you local dragstrip and see how many people have slicks on old "ten holes / tubines"
haven't seen one break yet.

Dave,
Can you help us out on the offset question? I am looking for a set of weld wheels for mine but I am not sure what offset to order.

These wheels are a 24MM offset. I haven't mounted them yet to see how much they'll stick out, if at all. I think I figured it to be 1/2 further than stock. Since it's raining and I won't be going to the track, I will mount one and take some pics for all to see. I asked the shop where I bought the tires if I could give up his name and he asked me not too due to his low price. He didn't want to get in trouble with M/T. They are a mom & pop local shop anyways, and are not setup for shipping tires. If anyone would like the name of this shop for pickup only, just pm me.

These wheels are temporary until there are a lot of selections out there. I stuck with the 17" for 3 reasons. 1. the biggest slick mickey makes is 17" (in only one size) 2. I wanted to try to get more sidewall with a smaller diameter wheel. 3. I could get a bullitt wheel in a larger size without changing all 4 wheels for them all to match. Besides, I like the retro/bullitt look. The looks are not super important, I was just able to get the sticky tires onto wheels that matched.
I would have gone to a 315's if M/T made one. I'm not worried about busting out the center of these wheels. It's not like I'm turning 500 hp. I think I would break the driveshaft before I bust the center out of the wheels.
