I have 295/45's on the rear and 255's on the front(see signature) Steeda lowering kit. I have never had any rubbing. I started with the rear being way off till I got the adjustable sway bar and no rubbing.
Adrenalin, I was going to guess Statefarm or Allstate as your insurance. They are not performance anything people(cars, boats, motorcycles). Just so you guys know, alot of insurance companies will not go along with ANY engine or suspension mods if you tell them or they find out. Been there also. Luckily most will never check or do anything about it in a accident. I have been there more than once also unfortunately.

Has anybody heard about or used H & R sport springs? They claim 1 inch drop on the front and a 3/4 inch drop on the back. I'm not sure which look I like for lowering: even squat from front to back or a little higher in the back.
H&R are big in the MINI Cooper world. They are considered one of the very best suspension tuners. I have an H&R rear sway bar on my MCS, and I have buddies with H&R springs.

I have heard that if you use the steeda you won't have to change out the camber plates to get the alignment back in? Can anyone share what differences they have found? I think the steeda does not lower them as much and maybe that is the difference,

Do both need a panhard bar to recenter the rear axle??

I haven't measured mine, but with the Eibach Pro Kit in I don't notice my allignment off at all. It still goes straight without steering and I had absolutely NO problems when I went to the track last weekend.

Hahahahahhahahaha! I'm sry but where in the heck do you live? What a bunch of frigging douche bags. I have a 12" Lift on my 05 2500 GMC with 40's on 22's. I have State Farm and my Agent loves my truck I've had the truck for 1 yr, been lifted it for 6 months and my insurance rates are the same? I would tell them to shove it and look for another agent/insurance company if need be. That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my entire life. How can they insure every ricer riding around then? Also what happen if its a "Ford" part which is a OEM part and you could get it dealer installed..........

and now for something most people that have lowered their cars have never thought of (I know I didn't). Insurance companies, in most cases, will automatically cancel your insurance if they find out your car has been lowered and/or the suspension altered. I found this out the hard way when pics of my car were submitted to the appraiser regarding a claim that was filed. I immediately received a call that my insurance was cancelled. After a long 3 day argument, or should I say debate, I still have insurance but my guaranteed policy renewal was removed, which basically means when it comes time to renew my insurance my rates are going to be through the roof :bang:

lower it....i have the pro kits and 255/50/17 tires. It looks good cuz theres a lot of meat on the tires instead of really low profile. It fills in the gaps pretty good.

Ford Racing has a lower kit. Springs, shocks, strut bar, sway bars, struts, all for about a grand. Lowers car 1", and shouldn't have any trouble with insurance, it's a Ford part.

What will dictate the need for a camber kit is two things:

1) the particular construction tolerance stack up of your individual car

2) how much the the spring kit actually lowers the car.

If the construction tolerance stack up on your car is favorable, you will be able to lower more than anothers who is not, before having to do the camber kit.

So generally speaking, and we are talking the nominal drops of 3/4" to 1 1/2", it does not matter whose spring kit you use. Its the combination of construction tolerance stack up and end result (and even within the sping kits, there is production varaibility that will affect how much your car actually drops) of the spring installation. :P

I have the H&R OEM Sport springs on my car and it lowered it 1" in front and 3/4" in the rear. I also have ROH Drift R wheels 19x9/19x10 and BFG KDW tires 275/35-19F and 295/35-19R. No rubbing anywhere at any time. Love it all but I may be biased.

I'm not a fan of lowering. Is it a California thing??? Unless you road race, I don't see the purpose.

I wasn't a fan either until I put my new wheels on and saw the gap between the tire and the fender. Looks cool after BMR springs.

This might seem silly to some but I ask because I don't know. What if you have a problem with a front tire? If you are running 255's on the front and 285's on the rear you can't rotate them. If you wear out the fronts you have no choice but to buy another pair. Anyone out there running say 275's all the way around?

Jon

If your going to lower check the spec sheet on the springs, most would claim they meet or exceed OEM specifications. If you could prove that to your insurance company or your state insurance commisioner they would have to honor your claim or be in breech of contract.( my sister is an attorney for a huge insurance company)

When there is no traffic, our freeways ARE like a Road Race....

Sometimes you have to accelerate down a curved onramp and up to speed (70-80mph) or get run over, pushed over or just generally run into...

Please, if you lower with springs, do shocks as well.

Trust me. Just doing springs and pairing them with the OEM shocks totally sucks. I've done it and the difference vs. a proper set of shocks is night and day. And NEVER cut your springs. If anyone tells you it's ok to do that, don't be eve them and run the other way.

I have Eibach Pro Kit springs and Tokico D-spec shocks. The difference in ride once I installed the D-specs was fantastic (I did the Eibachs first, a few months prior), however with my experience and speaking with a few knowledgable people at some local shops, I find them to be a bit on the bouncy side. If I were to buy them again, I might opt for the Koni Adjustable shocks paired with the Pro Kits.
Looks-wise, I think my car is awesome but I'm biased.

Kristina (car has settled since this pic was taken)
