For anyone that has installed the Lower Control Arms, how the heck did you break the bolts free? I am get virtually no leverage on either the front of back 18mm bolts.

Bryn,
Not sure exactly what you mean. I just put a socket with a rachet on them and had no problem.

same here-just make sure when you do finally get them free and install the new ones to tighten the bolts while the rearend is either jacked up or the car is on the ground. Also I know you can get at the front bolt with the car on the ground but you wont get any leverage. The rears I think have to be done up in the air. good luck-maybe you need to get billy bob over there to help with the leverage

I put the guns on 'em. j/k

Actually, mine came off with a 1/2" ratchet and socket. Try a 24" breaker bar, $20 bucks from Autozone. That'll get her done.

EDIT: I see you got it already. Glad you broke them free.

What was the torque spec you used and where did you get it? Thanks, also, do you know where I can get instuctions for the e brake disconnect and reconnect?

torqued to about 80 ft/lbs as per instructions from the manufacturer (bmr). Disconnect the e-brake is pretty easy, so long as the e-break is OFF. Just pull on the cable with a set of pliers it comes right off. once you get in there you'll figure it out in no time.

Nobody here really needed to replace their LCAs, rather it's done as a performance upgrade. Sometimes under hard acceleration from a stop the rear solid axle can "hop." Aftermarket LCAs help to keep the rear axle in place reducing the wheelhop.

The forward bolt is really breaking my chops...the head looks to be 18mm and the nut is 13/16 , I am doing it on a 4 post lift, cant get any leverage, the nut has these funky sides that looks like it was designed to be a keeper for the thread protector, if you use a socket and ratchet, you have no leverage and head of the ratchet hits the underbody.
So where exactly are you using the impact gun anyway?
Can anyone give me exact detail instructions the install the Steeda race/streeet Lca's. Any help will be much appreciated...Thanks, Dave

Sorry to sound like a noob, but when there is a certain amount of torque to be applied with the ratchet, how do you measure that? Is it using a air system?

I use a torque wrench. prolly some pneumatic units available, too.

the funky nut is so that you don't require two wrenches in there. Twist the bolt side, the nut isn't going to budge no matter how hard you pry on it. I don't recall any leverage issues. maybe I was just lucky, they weren't really on very tight at all, then again... I used a 18 inch torque wrench to take them off.

Wow looks like I'm getting some LCA's in the future. I didn't know there was a way to reduce wheel hop. Thanks.
