Loudness of SLPs?
#1
Just how loud are the SLP Loudmouth's? When I get my new 'Stang, I've pretty much deceided on either the SLP Loudmouths or the Magnaflow Magnapak's. The SLP's sound meaner. Do they attract undue attention from cops, even if driven under normal crusing? What about at WOT?
If the SLPs bring too much attention to themselves, then the more subdued Magnaflows may be in my future.

You can control them when you need to. I've been next to Police on motor cycles with no problem. But, if you are caught unaware . . . . you're toast. Keeping it below 2000 rpm under very light throttle is the key to success when you don't want to be heard IMO.

Nick - here is a comparison video I did awhile ago...

I was woried about drawing attention from police when I got my Magnapacks. It hasn't been a problem though. Just to go WOT when you are in neighborhoods and in front of police.
Don't make the decision on whether you think you will have problems with the police. Go with what you want or you will regret it. Just don't floor it around cops.

I haven't had any problems from cops with the SLP exhaust. In fact I drove through a police checkpoint last week and 2 cops made it a point to come up and comment on how nice my car sounded.
Today I put on the Magnaflow catted X-Pipe to go along with the SLP and it is scary loud. Sounds like a Nascar now. I wouldn't be surprised if I soon get some unwanted attention.

I personally love the sound of the SLP Loudmouths on mine. But it never fails, whenever I get on it there is a cop near by. Kind of hard to hide.
Only complaint I have at all is when starting cold they are unusually loud. To the point that it causes a trunk viberation. I just ordered a set of FRPPs to replace them with.

Ford Racing Performance Parts. They are Borla Stingers with Ford Racing tips and cost about $100 less than the Borla's

Gotta see some pics (underside and rear tips) when you get the FRPP system installed. How much $$ are they going for?

Another alternative to the SLP Loudmouths are the SLP PowerFlos. They are not as loud as the Loudmouths because they have a small 5" dia muffler; but they sound very good.

They have 3" tips that have the Ford Racing logo on the tops of them. And have the Borla stamp in the side of the muffler.
I got these from a guy on fleabay that sells them pretty often for $369. Checked with my local FRPP dealer and they have them for $400. Ford Racing's web site has them for $220 a piece.
I just ordered them Monday so they probably won't get here until next week and I won't have time to put them on until next Wednesday. But will take a couple of pics when I do.

hawgman - I am looking at those along with the SLP Power Flo's. I have not seen anyone else with the FRPP's yet so it will be interesting to hear how you like them. From the MM&FF review they seem to be fairly quiet but have a nice hp gain.
