loud, mineral grey

The compensation theory only applies to Camaros and Firebirds.

Refering to my original post so far, LOUD seems to be ahead of sleeper. As an interesting side note, it apears that the loud sound possie seemed to have a preferance for loud colors(pun intended, torch red, screaming yellow, ect.). The sleeper pack appears to prefer black or white(Henry Ford said,"They can have any color they want, as long as it's black."). Does anyone else see this corralation? Please post your color with "LOUD" or "sleeper". As others have observed, my general female feed back is that LOUD screams small *****! The same would aply to your jacked-up, 4-wheel drive truck, with swampers, flood lights, and mud flaps. And ricers, with the little blue blinking lights underneath it on the rear end housing. I think it would further discusion to have some females post on this thread about thier opinions toward the small ***** theory. Personally I'm still sleeper all the way! Walk quietly, and carry a big stick. The procharger should be arriving in about three weeks for my black de-emblemed GT.
Now I really don't know where you are going with this! I think the general consensus is that few are buying this car as a magnet for the opposite sex. Mustang has always meant ground pounding performance--somehow I don't think whisper quiet fits in there. Stealth is cool, and I took just that approach after getting married. By the way, I also have a 2003 Honda Accord V6 with performance intake and exhaust. It's still fairly quiet and runs like a rocket.

I think this ***** envy stuff is a myth, mostly for insecure folks to redirect their own insecurities--don't let it bug you. Maybe folks just like fast, loud cars for crying out loud. The car racing and accessorizing phenomenon is really just about folks having a good time and socializing. Embrace it--THAT'S the American way!

I did Magnaflows, and it wasn't loud enough. So, I added a Bassani o/r x-pipe and now it's ungodly loud, which is just the way I wanted it.

As for performance, I don't really care if it goes up or even down, since this car isn't very fast to begin with. I just wanted a noise-maker.

Go loud or stay stock, whichever you prefer. I thought I was semi-ok with the Magnaflows alone until I heard a couple other local guys' exhaust, then I immediately knew I had to go louder.

I wanted to scare small children . . . so Bassani's for me.

I had two main rules before I bought the car: It has to be a stick, and it has to be loud. I really just didn't like the stock sound. Even if it was the same volume, a different sound would be better.

The Bassani's sound great, and will wake the neighbors if I try, but they are quiet at a cruise, and I can keep it quiet in the mornings and late at night.

Having said all that, I completely understand the "sleeper" thing. I though about it myself.

I started out wanting it soft. I liked the stock exhaust sound but added Magnaflows (not the Magnapacks) just for some HP and for the rolled tips. But, after the first few months of driving around and having 99-04 Mustangs (with aftermarket exhaust) and riced out cars (with big fart cans) rev their engine as they drive by me, I got pissed and totally changed my mind. So, I gutted my cats and it's about 3-4 times louder and now I'm addicted. I want it louder and deeper. MAC longtube headers and off-road Pro Chamber are soon to follow.

I just bought a MAK Off-road X and am hoping I get the same loudness you noticed when you gutted your cats. I am running the stock exhaust, since I don't want highway drone. Who knows how long though.....

Borla if you want people to hear you and you want to "feel" the rumble of your exhaust. Some say its loud, but I'm totally used to it now. If you can afford it, Borla's the way to go.

I'm amazed that quite a few of the most popular recent posts have been about exaust system sound. With the consensees of the post: louder is better. I'm interested in any exaust system changes that increase preformance. But past that I think the stock system is already to loud. Maybe it's just my approach to these things, less is more. I ordered my car with out the rear spoiler, with less than 500 miles on the odometer, I removed the GT emblems, welded up the holes, and repainted the fenders($700). Read sleeper.Or maybe it's just my age(47).So start the debate. Loud or sleeper.
First off, there is no way a 2005 Mustang could ever be a sleeper. Dual exhaust and the fact it's a 2005 Mustang are dead give aways no matter how much debadging you do.

I'd be all for keeping it quiet and all if it didn't sound so incredible. Even with the SLP loudmouths it doesn't get annoying, atleast not to me. I hear alot of annoyingly loud cars that just sound horrible, but this car sounds so beautiful loud. It doesn't have a raspy harsh sound even at wot just a very smooth and roudy rumble, I love it. But each to their own, nothing wrong with keeping the car stock or adding what you like to it. Have fun with it, thats all that matters and I'm having a blast with mine.

Well my vote is loud as crap. I just installed bassani comp cats, xpipe, and axle backs stainlesss and it is awesome. Now it feels like a race car. Man when you gun it or getting on the highway you get some awesome sound. Also just from starting from a stop this baby roars. Anyone that wants loud and awesome quality, go to bassani comps cats and all the way back. It comes with off road tubes in case you dont want to put on the cats, which also have the 02 sensor holes. So if you really want it even louder, you could do off road, but that would be insane in my mind, as it is freeeeeking loud now. Good luck to all, but bassani really delivers, I heard a borla system, and it was nice and deep, but the bassani rules in my opinion.

I have to disagree with you there. You could buy a rear bumper from a V6 and have a single fake pipe coming out there and have your actual exhaust hidden... maybe exiting from the side, but pointed down and tucked away. With some super quiet mufflers, no GT badges, V6 faux gas cap and front grill/bumper, you could definitely have a Mustang GT sleeper.

To the guys that make their cars louder than stock here is a little tip. Women hate it and make fun of you and also know that you are screaming for attention. They also feel that its a sign of no confidence in yourself. This is not what I think, its what I have been told from several past girlfriends and and my wife. Now a redneck girlfriend that loves NASCAR (Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks) and takes her teeth out when she goes to bed will love the upgraded jet sounding exhaust. LOL Just depends what your looking for in a relationship.

:nono: :nono: :nono: Do not make such assumptions about women! I LOVE the loud growl of a Stang! Have for as long as I can remember. I know one is coming before I even see it. I think the 05's stock are too quiet and can't wait to spice mine up a little! and BTW I'm no NASCAR loving redneck! In fact, I'm a very professional business woman who just happens to love Stangs.

My wife is the one who talked me into a set of SLP's. She wants it louder than I already have it.

hmmmmmm... I like it when she wants me to spend more money on mods.

If I go really loud with mine, my neighbors will kill me for starting it up and leaving for work at 6:30 in the morning. They've already been talking about how loud it is stock.

I fire mine up at 5:50 in the morning, no complaints yet.

Of course, I think many of them wouldn't voice an opinion anyway, since many of them have seen me toting my AR-15 out to my car when I'm headed to a range.
