I just got finished installing my K&N Aircharger and was wondering if someone could tell me if some of the sounds I'm hearing are normal.
First when driving I hear a whineing sound around 3000 RPMs. All my connections are tight and I was wondering if this was just the sound of air going through the filter. Not really loud enough for a leak.
Second, when I shut the engine down there's a pfffft sound. Is this normal? If anyone with the same system has the same sounds please let me know so I can stop worrying about it and try and fix it. Thanks

All Normal! I love that pfft sound at the end. People thought I had a blower under there one time when I turned it off and they heard that sound. But yea its all normal, same sound under my hood.

By the way, i added you as a myspace friend, I'm Firefighter Maverick....

Please no TMS MySpace.

As for the K&N sound, the only not normal sound that I know of is a loud whistling sound that occurs when idling. This does NOT occur on a normal K&N setup (to prevent confusion) this only occurs on a setup where they forgot to bore out the hole on the side of the K&N (the one with the nipple that you plug the rubber hose onto). If you are not hearing that, and it's loud and you would know it, unless perhaps it's partially cleared, then I think you're fine If you wanted to check, you could pull off the hose on the side (err, turn off the car first) and look down there with a bright flashlight. If the interior of the hole is all the same size, and you can see the other side of the large intake tube, then you're fine. If not, then drill it out. I think there were a few a while ago that they didn't drill out (like mine), but a cordless drill takes care of it without a problem.
