I installed the BMR LCAs along with ARH long-tubes and H-pipe at the same time. I initially thought the squeaking was coming from the newly installed exhaust. I have been back and forth to the muffler shop getting the car put up in the air and checking for exhaust rattles and squeaks multiple times. I even had the guy at the shop ride with me to see if he thought I was crazy.

The exhaust system is tight and solid, and shouldn't rattle at all. All hangers are good and shouldn't squeak in their rubber holders. The only thing I can think of is the BMR LCAs. Everytime I hit a bump or the suspension flexes, I hear squeaks. Logically I would think LCAs, but I'm not sure.

I have the rectangular arms with the poly bushings. I lubed them with white lithium grease before installation, but I think my problem is with the torquing. I don't have a torque wrench, so they are just on there about as tight as I could torque them with a 3/8ths drive ratchet.



Someone please tell me the problem is with the torquing or something. I can't find anyone complaining about squeaking with these in this forum or on their website. I'm thinking it may be the metal in between squished against the brackets. I'm planning on jacking up the car and backing the nuts off a bit and lubing them up again.

Don' they have grease fittings? If so grease them. Now if not I THINK << Think that is that someone on the fourm said you can drill them and put in a grease fitting. IF NOT, you must take them loose and re-Grease inside the bushing. JMO

 

Shaun... I don't know why you would need to back off the nuts to grease your LCA's?? BMR LCA's with poly bushings all have grease fittings. Their installation instructions state to lube the bushings after tightening the nuts and prior to lowering the car.

I would take a look at the mounting grommets on the shocks. If you lubed the LCA bushings, it is unlikely they are squeaking.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I lubed up the grease fittings before putting them on the car because of the tight space underneath, and the type of grease gun I have is a solid straight pipe. I'll check the shock mounts, but they were fine the day before the install.

 

i just recently put in some steeda lca's as well and i'm hearing some squeaking from the left one also

Same problem is starting to happen with a friend's GT that I helped install the same BMR LCA's.

Your LCA mounting bolts should be properly torqued though. Important step is to raise the rear axle once the rear is supported on jack stands to replicate its' static stance (on all 4 on level ground) prior to torquing.

BMR torque spec is 130 ft/lbs.

We also 'pre-greased' the bushings prior to install. Your problem may be a combination of both, the need to torque and re-grease.

 

How cold is it where you live? Poly bushings have a tendency to squeak a bit when they get cold. I can sometimes hear mine when I get in and out of the car and I'm only 180lbs.

 

My Spohn LCA's are creaking a little too, I greased them and checked the torque again but they're still creaking. I'm sure the cold temps have something to do with it.

 

 

Poly will make noise every so often. If you want minimal NVH, stick with OEM.

 

What about adjustable ones LCA's?

I'm looking to get BMR LCA's as well, but adjustables. Not only that, they will have a spherical bearing on the wheel end. I wonder if that makes a difference?

 

Spherical ends will be even noisier.

 

Urethane bushings equal squeaks. If you grease them it will help the bushing from binding to the sleeve and squeaking, but you must grease periodically. Did you look into the GT500 LCAs? Ther're stiffer then stock GT LCAs and might help with wheel hop if that's why your replacing them. No greasing and only $100.

I agree. I'm going to re-grease and torque today and see what happens.

 

I'm thinking about getting some J&M LCA's. www.hotpart.com They look like good quality, but I don't know about squeaking. I e-mailed them about how often they need to be greased, and they said if you use the supplied grease, then they only need to be regreased very rarely and probably never.

 

I have the CHE adjustable LCAs and Steeda Comp. Springs.

What I have found is that after 3 or 4 good washings where I spray under the car, I get some squeaking. The culprit is usually the pad on the lower spring perch in the rear. By raising the car a bit I can get some free play in the spring to perch contact. I slather some silicone grease on the lowest coil and then rotate it about 15% each way and then lower the car.

Seems to quiet the squeaks. I too have gotten in and out only to hear the squeak from the car coming up to height.

I plan to do a full relube come spring and then see how long it goes without squeaking.
