Largest tire for stock bullit wheels?

I am wondering what is the largest tire that has been successfully installed on stock 17" bullitts? Am interested in the back tires more than the front.

Ive heard you can go as high as a 275/45 tire on most 8inch wide rims, although I wouldnt try it.

No.

255 is the widest tire approved for the factory 17 inch rims. Anything larger is insane. These cars put out 300 hp and go over 140 mph- now you want to roll around on over-stressed sidewalls? If you want wider rubber, you need to buy wider rims.

A reputable tire shop will not install anything larger than 255 on your factory rims, due to laibility issues. A not-so-smart tire shop will put on anything you want. You decide.

Well I wasn't planning on doing the ricer tango with my tires sticking out a foot on all four corners I was just wondering if anyone else had used the stock wheels with a larger than stock tire. I think the car would look tougher with a slighlty larger rear tire. I think a 255 ratio tire would look a lot better than a 235 20mm larger sounds about right without getting the tread past the lip of the wheel for stability.

I had 255/50/17s on my '05 GT, i think they look better then the 18s on my GT/CS (as far as the tires go). I do like the 64w wheels on the GT/CS better then the stock 17" wheels.

255 IMO is the all around perfect size for stock rims
