Kooks Headers?

So I'm pondering the header thing and was just wondering what everyones take is on the Kooks. I'm planning on doing all the bolt on stuff at some point to include springs and cams so I think headers would really compliment the cams and intake. Is there any one that has the Kooks and if do you like them or not? Also ehat was the biggest pain when installing?

I don't have them, but Kooks always get good reviews. So do American Racing headers which are in the same price range. That being said, several members here have opted for less expensive setups from OBX, BBK, Mac, all for example and they have had good results at roughly 1/2 the cost of the Kooks and/or American Racing.

I don't. I chose Hookers, however my dad has them on his Z06. HE LOVES THEM. The fitment is great, and the quality is TOP NOTCH. We bought some for a great deal through the Kooks vendor during Corvette week in Carlisle, PA. I would definitely recomend them.

The biggest pain (after just doing an install) is the driver's side (IMO). It's easiest to remove the driver's side engine mount and steering shaft. Nothing is hard about the install per say, it's just time consuming.

I have the Kooks LT with the Cat'd x-pipe and they sound great. I get lots of compliments on the sound of the car.

I actually paid to have mine installed, so I cannot comment on the installation.

If I had the bucks I would have went with Kooks. But for the same money I went with the OBX..Sypdershaft..and Earls SS brake lines, speed bleeders and Valvoline brake fluid. I have had no fitment issues at all with the OBX. And they are 304 SS. The Kooks are not.

I have Kooks L/Ts, off-road x-pipe and FRPP stingers. Fitment was perfect. I absolutely love the combination. Be warned though, this combo is not for the faint of heart.

I have Kooks LT,catted X and FRPP Stingers and it is by far, the coolest, deepest sound out there. If you don't like it then you might as well get a hybrid that doesn't make a sound.

Given the cost I would go with OBX though. Their quality is top notch

Search on ebay. That is where we all have bought ours. You might find a better price than this. I just posted the first set I found. I paid $450. + 30 shipping at Xmas.

Never seen OBX in person so I can't comment, but I've also got the Kooks LT's with Catted X-pipe and Borla Stingers. This combination absolutely freakin' rocks. Qualit is amazing and fitment was perfect, not a single issue. I did the install starting Friday night and finished up that Saturday afternoon working completely by myself and having never done a header installation before. There are good hints from Faber on this forum as to what you need, and some of Taco Bill's how-tos are helpful because they show the removal on the motor mounts and the battery and tray. Do a search and you can find it all on here. The combination will also mellow a little after about 500 miles. I can't beleive I didn't do this the first day I got the car. It is a must do. The compliments never stop. Except every p.o.s. ricer within a 100 miles wants to race my MUSCLE car and they just don't get that I won't do it.

kooks and american racing are probably going to be the highest rated...

but if you want to look into other brands and save yourself some cash, it may be worth it

i have BBK LT's and i could not be happier... the fit and finish are top notch!

Talked to an electrician working at the house next to mine and he heard me start iup the stang the other day and drive off. The next day he came over and wanted to know what i had done to her, he had a 1989 GT Twin Turbo with a long list of mods, a 10 second car, and the sound of my car each day was killing him to get a S197. He said that my car sounded absolutely perfect. I thought that was cool coming from a guy who had built his own 10 second stang back in the day. LT headers, x-pipe, stingers rock, oh and a CAI with Brenspeed 93 race tune also helps.

Kooks makes some nice headers. I went with the ARHs with the catted H pipe. Sounds great and fits great.

Hey Travelers are thsoe dyno numbers update? Looking at all your mods I would think that you should have more power than that especially with the electric water pump. How was that to install? Any headaches with it?

Kooks are some good people that make some great products!

Drew, we should throw that thing back on the dyno. I'm pretty sure there's more in there. Give me a call on my cell if you ever want to and I'll try and sneak you in on the weekend.
