Late yesterday afternoon, I got the word that the long-awaited installation of a supercharger on my car will have to wait just a bit longer. Apparently, the intercoolers that Kenne Bell had in house for the 2.4L 2005+ Mustang kits had manufacturing defects. I don't know the specifics, but as I understand it, there were some issues with welds and the units might leak. So rather than send out defective units, KB would not release a kit to Adam (at ST Motorsports) for me.

As disappointed as I am that I'm not at Adam's shop this very minute getting my hands dirty, I'm also glad to know that KB has strict QC protocols and stopped delivery of units that could be problematic later on. A leaking intercooler doesn't seem like something any of us would want to deal with after an installation was complete. So it's better to wait a while and get it right.

And as of this moment, we don't know for sure when the intercoolers will be ready to go. But we are taking an optomistic view, and are planning on trying again on the install next weekend. Hopefully, myself and Adam will know more by the middle of the week.

Stay tuned...

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out this weekend, but you're absolutely right. Better to wait and install good parts and not have to R&R bad ones later.

Trust me, I know all about waiting on parts. MMR has spread out my turbo install by shipping parts over about 2 1/2 months.
Sorry to hear about that don, I am really hoping that KB doesn't screw this one up for you. Anxious to see your install.

I think all of us are anxiously awaiting both

At least they appear to be up front about it, and that can only be a good thing.
As if waiting on the car wasn't tortuous enough..

Sorry to hear about your delay,

I left you a post on the other board...

It looks like my car is going to be parked until the first of Feburary. It is not really in a drivable state right now...

You might still get your done before I get mine done... :P

A leaky intercooler....hummm. Yeah, ok. Ah...good luck with that. I'm sure once the install is complete, the results will be awesome. It's a terrific product...just not a real reliable vendor. It's got to be tough waiting. I'm looking forward to living vicariously through you when it's installed.

From what I have been told, the intercoolers are manufactured by an outside vendor (Fluidyne??? maybe??? ), and they may not have done a proper pressure test before delivering them to KB. The problem was caught once the ICs were received by KB.

Sorry to hear that Don, but you've got the right attitude. In the meantime, I'm sure are some other mods you could do to kill some time.

Suh-weet!! I talked to Adam tonight. He now has my KB blower kit in his possession!!

After he verifies that everything is there, all we need to do is work out a mutually acceptable schedule for installation. More to follow...

I'm looking forward to this. I'm really holding off trying to spend another 6k+ on the car but a SC is calling my name.

Here is an update:

Barring any unanticipated glitches, we are set to install/tune the supercharger this Saturday, 1/28/06. I then expect to spend a good chunk of Sunday modifying the Shaker Scoop and fabricating mounting brackets to be able to use it with the blower installed. I will of course take pics of both the blower installation and the Shaker modification, and report back here. So, it may be late Sunday (or even Monday, depending on how long things take to complete) before I get a chance to post up pics.

This should be fun... I can hardly wait!!!

Good luck,

I am sure you are ready for the big boost in hp/tq. I think you car going to love the kit. If you need any sheet metal work done, I have a full shop and can quickly fab almost any part you can draw... Let me know if you need a part for the shaker....

I am hopeful that all of my problems will be taken care of on the 1st of Feb....

It looks like I am going to install a Maf.ia to solve the MAF pegging problem and if it does not rain, my tuner is going to work out the shifting program in the trans...

P.S. Here is a pic of my latest project....
