well today I finally got my stang dynoed with MTAS. I have the K&N aircharger of which I did place my HC trap back in as per the instructions and got a base pull on my stang.
Mustang Dyno
With the HC trap in
246 @ 5850 HP
250 @ 4500 torque
and that is with a Predator 87 tune
I was kinda hoping for a bit more but she is what she is.
now I asked the tuner to do a pull without the HC trap
242@ 5250 HP
249 @ 4650 torque
now you have to take in the fact that the computer was still learning the fact that I took out my HC trap and the tuner said I may end up with a bit more HP than that.
Now for the VERY unanswered question of how it runs without the HC trap. The Air Fuel ratio had very little effect and was told that it would not harm the engine to remove the HC trap. The only thing I did notice is that after the Dyno I had a 2 hour drive home to kinda test things out and one thing that stood out was that when ever I went WOT my car pinged considerably 2 times on the way home. NOW to my knowledge my car never did this before so for right now I am going to leave my HC trap out a few more days and keep an eye on it.
So I hope this answers some questions. One I wish that Diablo would finally put a tune out for the K&N and Two it looks like I have to look into a few more options to get my car to the 300 rwhp mark I am aiming for.

I just watched Horsepower tv and they get 10 more Hp from the K&N and no tune...yet I have it with a tune and put down 246...so subtract about 15-20 Hp and thats what my gt stock baseline would be?

I don't know  I'm no expert at this. If I'm reading correctly the dyno charts at C&L's site show a Stock GT at 265 HP and 285 Torque, am I mis-reading ??

C&L Dyno Chart

I realize there's not a K&N specific tune out from Diablosort or SCT yet. Is that a canned predator tune your using with the K&N ?

I have no idea if the auto changes things much or not.

Maybe some knowledgable folks can chime in and provide info/ideas.

yeah I am using the canned 87 tune. Like I said I was surprised at how low the HP was I was kinda hoping for around 270 or so....

Mustangshadow, it will make a big difference if you got your dyno on a mustang dyno instead of a dynojet dyno. 265hp on a dynojet is probably around 240 on a mustang dyno, more or less.

Mustang dyno = realworld numbers

Other dyno's don't simulate what a mustang dyno can.

so your saying that with the K&N and predator tune on a mustang dyno these numbers sound accurate?

I've always heard around 255 rwhp is what the 05 is basing at. Maybe the dyno guy did something wrong? What did Dave pull?

Hey Shadow, also, does Dave still have a custom tag? I saw another 05 GT, Mineral Gray, Lowered, Silver Tint... etc - His car's clone in Ft Myers Friday, except it had a regular state issue tag.

Hope you guys had fun!
I'm runnin over to Moroso by W Palm Oct 8 to drag and show the car if you or Dave want to run over w/ me. A couple other TMS'rs are meeting there too!

Perry, I believe if you had been tested on a Dyno Jet your numbers would be about 5% higher.

Hey John how's it goin? You up for the Poker Run on 8/21? I'll drop you a PM with the info. Any way, the bottom line is that yesterday was a lot of fun. ChrisM from these forums was there as well and we all had a blast. My numbers are in my sig and I'm very happy with what I pulled. That is until a bone-**** stock 05 GT manual (with only a Bassani axle back, no tune, no CAI - no NOTHING) laid down the exact numbers I pulled :bang: But hey, that's awesome for him - he got a factory freak But you know, one thing I've never done to my car is pull the negative battery cable, then do the recalibration cycle deal. I'm going to do that this morning and might go back to the dyno next Saturday since my Club is actually having a dyno day there.
And that wasn't me you saw there in Ft. Myers, if I'd have been in town I'd have given you a call. Oct. 8th, eh? I'm down for that. Is that the Ford Power Fest or something like that, where they do the Steeda Stampede?

Perry I'd bet that if you let the 87 octane in your tank get down to about 1/8 full, then fill up with 93 octane and reflash accordingly, you'll notice a nice increase The air being pulled into that K&N sounded mean though!

appreciate all the comments. I am with dave on the one mustang allmost totally stock and pulled 280. Thats when I really got a little confused on my pull of only 246. I am seriously thinking on switching to a different exhaust (specially seeing the gains that guy got with JUST Bassani). I really want to get my stang near the 300 RWHP mark then I will be pretty happy. So with the pull I thought that I may be in the near 260ish 70ish mark and wouldnt have much more to do to find HP. But now that I am a little more than 50 more horses away I dont think its going to happen

I'd let it get closer to 1/8 of a tank personally

When I flashed mine to 93, I waited til my message center said i had 40 miles left, filled with 93, drove 60 miles, then reflashed.
