If I could have gotten a GT for $25K I would have gotten the GT... problem is in March of 2005 they were more like $29K... got my V6 for $21K...

Alternative ROCKS!!! Lidio is the man when it comes to automatics!!! I'll be seeing Lidio at the track this weekend... Need to get him behind the wheel and see what kind of ET he can squeeze out of the Mistress! LOL!

Getting a GT down to 12.4 probably would take some kind of power adder... you could do it with a nice shot of N20... LOL!

And your right... the real point is changing peoples attitudes towards the six...
My attitude will never change toward's a v6, the v6's are for the women and the v8'a are for the menYeah you could mod it and make it faster than a gt but you could do the same thing with a honda The only way I would drive a v6 is for commuting, sorry!

BTW, when you go gears, you will need to reflash your car with your XCAL2 so your speedo is not off.

On the headers, I wouldn't bother with ST's, but to your question on if they are loud, they are not that much louder than stock on the GT's I have heard. The JBA's I believe are 50 state certified.

Let us know when you get some track runs under your belt. Congrats on your first stang, and black bullitts would look awesome on your car IMO.

Old fox body stang, has a over engineered 4 banger block in it, can take 400rwhp before needing to beef up the internals. Super light, super quick, and its a mustang. I had a 93 5.0 LX stang before this one, but had my heart set on a 70 boss 302, and a SVO in my stables.

You can find them at the track these days, solid 10 and single digit car.

MAC LT's are a good choice, I almost went with those when I was sold on the Vortech. Though I hear they are hit or miss on fitment.

Well, for your car, the black or chrome bullitts are the best I've seen on it. Deep dish looks sick on that car IMO.

Let’s see

2006 V6 Stang 21,000
Auburn LSD
Still running 3.31s 348
Custom Dual Exhaust 375
LCAs 80
Procharger 2,350
Labor for all 1450
23,494

Running 13.30s for 23,500 PRICELESS

Show me a new 06 GT doing that.

I have owned over a dozen musclecars, all with a V8 of somesort, but I always gave the due respect to Grand Nationals

Anybody remember Bob Glidden?
Ford’s Pro-Stock Driver in the late 70’s early 80’s (maybe longer) he crushed the field one year running a V6 Tbird with a Turbo, IIRC the NHRA outlawed the car after one year.
Yeah, real cars don’t have 6s

And that, ladies and gents, may be the most clever statement in this thread.

Congrats on the new GT!

Not bashing you, but you might want to read the article again. The auto with 4.10 gears, c & l intake, and torque converter went 12.8 on the first pass. The manual had c & l racer intake, JPC tune, and some kind of different front k-member. The final numbers for the stick were 12.51 @ 109.

According to the article, the point of the tests were to see how fast the cars could go with simple modifications that could be bolted on in under an hour.

To be fair, the auto had the torque converter when it came to the test.

Ok.. so how much $$$ did it take to get that automatic down to a 12.8?
Gears are what $200
C&L and tuner is $650
TC... no idea... what $600??

So $1500 for just parts? Another $500 for labor... ??? So you looking at about $2000... but say you do you're own work... so if Rygen had spent the money and got the GT it would have cost him any extra $1,000 to $2,000 more than his modded V6 to get to the 12.8....

Ok, let me go back and see what I am reffering to. Might be a different mag, I subscribe to 4 of them, and the issue I read gave the usual excuse "we ran out of time at the track" for the auto.

A TQ converter will make a whole world of difference in these cars.

Good point, just different strokes for different folks. Still, shows the S197 in both flavors can hang!

A TQ converter for an auto is no common thing at the track, so I still stick to my point on that, regardless of engine.

Labor for gears is usually in the $300 range
Labor for TC will vary, 2-3 hours, so add $250 there

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I had a feeling that because I got rid of V6 for a GT, it would start some arguments about which is better!! Anyway, I'm loving the new ride. It's a 5spd, and I plan on doing some type of CAI w/ bamachips tune since I live in Alabama and adding the Borla stinger mufflers and Hurst shifter. Can I just put the Borla stinger mufflers on and still get a good sound or do I need to a whole cat-back system? Oh, and the GT is a great improvement over the stock V6. I know that people have gotten a lot out of their sixes, but there is nothing like the sound and feel of a V8, handsdown!! I love it and can't wait to get started on my mods. I will post some pics of my new ride soon. It came with the Roush window louvers, which look pretty cool IMO.

I have the Borla catbacks and have heard the stock system in person with just the axlebacks. You will still get a nice sound with just the axlebacks. Some people claim the catback sounds a little better but I didn't notice much of a difference, if any. In fact, if I had to do it over again thats the route I would have taken. After 4 months of happiness with that set-up I'm leaning heavily towards an OR so the complete catback was short lived. I'd start with the axleback and go from there......Congrats again!

I traded my 05 V6 in for an 06 GT also. I friggin' love it. Both the V6 and GT are great but for me, I had to get a GT. The Borla Stingers aound great on a stock exhaust. That's what i just did. Here's a sound clip:
http://media.putfile.com/FRPP-Borla-Stingers
My wife was a little afraid to rev it though.
I also got a C&L and tune from BamaChips. Made a world of difference! I'm barking 2nd, 3rd and 4th! Have fun!

I posted all this before minus the sound clip. Doh! What can I say, I have oldtimers disease!
