I have read a few posts about customers filters coming off while driving and would like to offer this fix.
First off I must say I'm sorry to hear this has happened and regreat that I have not come up with something sooner.

I do believe the problem is the slick filter flange from the factory oiling of the filter. Cleaning this inside flange with a good thinner has helped 95% of the time.
Another part of the problem is the short mounting area due to the MAF sensor. Here is what I have done and will do to the rest of the kits going out.
I took a razor blade and a pair of snips and cut out a 1/4-1/2" slot in the filter flange end. This way the filter can slide on the pipe much further and have a much bigger clamping area. This in no way effects the filter seal or abilty to filter the air.

This is a very easy and free fix to do and if you are one of the few having this issue, please give this a try along with cleaning the flange. I feel it's safe to say this will take car of the problem.
Again, my apologize go out to those who this happened to and hope your still happy with your choice.

Jay Tucker

Originally I had a problem with the MAF being loose. I used model CA glue between rubber inserts and pipe and it's now tight as can be. Never had it fall off, but after hearing others with the problem, I used the CA glue again between the pipe and filter. No problems. Runs like a champ!

Here is my solution the the filter problem. I live in south Texas and it is very hot here. The problem I have is from the heat. The housing gets soft then collapses and the filter falls off and my inlet the the CAI is deformed. What I did was make a ring out of titanium to go inside of the housing with a lip for a stop.

I have it all over the shop. I used it because I wanted to make it thin but keep it strong. I am going to remake it and put a nice bell-mouth lead in next time.

I have not had any problems, but it is this kind of concern that makes it so easy to recommend your product Jay.

Jay... as much as i appreciate your tech support and courtesy in dealing with guys like me who arent as understanding as most, i think that the product you have fabricated for the 05 could have been made better... as it is placed too close to the block, it is easy to heat the PVC to the point of changing shape (as happened with my intake i found out today). these little things have caused me to question my purchase and wonder if a CandL would have been a better buy. i really do love your cobra intake but this one isnt living up to your well deserved reputation as an excellent intake manufacturer

I don't feel it is my problem to fix your product. You should fix it under warranty.

Yeah I was definately going to get the JLT, but after hearing these stories I figure I'll probably go with something else.

Too bad too because it really looks cool

Again, to those who think snipping a small section from the filter for a fix is too much to ask, I'm sorry you feel this way. As many have said they have never had this problem so for the small majority I'm tring to help you out.
It's a 1 minute job and you saved a good amount of money offer the next induction kit in line.
I do understand your frustration, but think about what were talking about doing here to fix this once and for all. Very easy to do.

If you would like to send me your filters I will be very happy to snip it my self and send it back, no problem.

Companies have small, over time issues come up that were not seen in testing. I am tring to take care of them, fast and easy.
Let's remember back to the MMR CEL issue and customers were told to drive there car with it on and it would go out.
C&L has had issues with there Predator tune and needed to send new tunes out.
JLT has had the CEL from a loose MAF connection that was fixed as fast as I could and this. Both are simple fixes. I'm not bashing these 2 companies, so please don't turn it around it to that, but mearly showing you JLT is not the only one with "small" issues.

To those looking to buy your first mod and are thinking about JLT. All kits will be going out with this fix to avoid and further problems with new kits.

To those with the problem: Please try this mod or send me your filter so I can do it for you.
Thanks
Jay

Look how many small problems the 2005 Mustang has, but people still buy them and have no problems.

I have had no slipping issues with mine at all. I did notice a slight indentation where the tube was sitting on the upper radiator hose. I used some pipe insualtion, wrapped the upper hose and used some cable straps to hold it in place. No more heating issues with the pipe or possible air heating in the pipe due to the radiator hose.

Love the product and the price...

I have an 06 on order and am probably going with the JLT intake when my car comes in. I really like how Jay stands behind the product and stays on top of things. Customer service

Does the JLT offer a combo package with either a Predator, Xcal2? If so do they come with loaded tunes?

Well yeah that's because there's no real alternative to the Mustang GT IMHO.

There are plenty of alternatives in this case. Yes some might be more expensive but there ARE alternatives.

I live in California and it gets very hot here in the summer and pretty much year round. After hearing that the tube deforms under high heat (this was what I was referring to) I just feel it better to spend the extra money for something that is a little more sturdy.

That's all I was saying.

Good customer service...on this problem? No way...This is a case of damage control and a poor job of CYA. There should be a recall on all of them so he doesn't get his hiney sued off when one of them fails. The next time it fails it could cause a wreck/injury/death. Careful going over the railroad tracks!
