Introduction and Tune question
Well, after owning two Mustang II's in HS (a 74 and 77), a Fox Body after college (GT coupe), and three very different SN95s (V-6 coupe, GT Vert, and a Mach 1) I finally purchased a S197.
I go to pick up a used 05 Black Premium GT coupe with just over 11,000 miles on it later today (it has the manual tranny). I love the way the car rides compared to my other mustangs, but I really hate the throttle lag. I'm planning on ordering a tune from Doug or Brent yet this week. My questrion is, should I also get a CAI, or will the tune by itself add some HP and get ride of the lag?
thanks,
mitch

thanks all,
I love the looks and the way the 05 rides, but I REALLY miss the seat of you pants acceleration that the Mach had. Any one else go from a Mach to a S197 and find a couple of easy mods to regain what they gave up?

Yes, I did exactly that. Had an '04 Mach 1, got a '06 GT.
You want to make your new manual tranny car feel like your Mach felt?
1) CAI and tune.... I've tried both Bamachips and Brenspeed and prefer Brenspeed. Brent puts the maximum amount of HP/TQ in his tunes and doesn't market "race tunes", "torque tunes" etc. you just get the most available from the single tune. Before someone posts and thinks that I'm bashing, let me say I AM NOT BASHING DOUG at Bamachips, I'm just speaking from personal experience as a guy that's pretty **** AND has tried both tunes. Eitherway you go whether its Brenspeed or Bama, do the CAI & tune as your first mod.
2) Gears: change your rear end gears to 4.10s. Your new tranny will LOVE 4.10s and the little bit of additional weight that the new cars carry will love you for it in return. Oh, and if you keep your foot out of it, you'll still get good mileage.
3) Buy a CDC shaker hood kit. No there is no real performance gain, but the placebo effect will make you feel right at home like you did in the Mach. Plus, it looks cool!

Not exactly a Mach I. '03 Cobra to an '05 GT....... One easy mod: Intercooled Whipple with my tune. Don't miss the Cobra at all.....
