U got it, they'll help someone...or something.
Well...I had a nice band of downpours pass throughout the area today. I decided to take the Roush out in it with the radiator cover off and check it out for any water issues.
Achieved speeds of 100+ in the downpour to check the filter for any type of wetness...nothing.
No..I dont approve of doing what I did....but it had to be tested, its freakin' slippery out there
to be continued...

lol...trust me guys, it had to be done. I couldnt go on without knowing if water gets to this thing, we all were wondering it, and I had a chance to try it out..
But seriously, I am blessed to have nice open highways here, and able to do things like that...not that it happens often <cough>..
I was quite surprised at how the tires did. Good choice Jack Thank You BF Goodrich

Issue...Bugs!
Last few daysI have been driving and testing with the rad cover on and off, and bugs are an issue in the filternow, they are getting there somehow
If anyone has time, or knows, I have been trying to track down a pre-filter for this huge filter...any help would be greatly appreciated Im having no luck yet..

Just a few, but they would add up when the heat/ram shield is on. A pre-filter would help intead of picking them out of the filter.
Im in a area with many farms, and bugs at dusk here are a Major issue.
On a mission for a sock

Did some research on the net and so far found a post where a guy opened holes in his airbox and needed a pre-filter. His solution: he went to his local air conditioner supplier and bought a washable filter used for commercial air conditioners.
I'll post more possible solutions as I find 'em.

OK, possible solution. I found an offroad forum and a user posted this:
"The prefilter part numbers are on K&N's website ( www.knfilters.com) , but are made by Outerwears ( www.outerwears.com ). You can purchase the filters from www.4filters.com."
These are all in the shape of existing air filters and are "wraps" to go over them. Here's the question, do you think we could get one and just cut it to cover the openings in the ram air grill? I'm sure it can be cut and secured in place and they are water repellent. K&N drycharger link scroll down a 1/4 way of the page.

WOW...great find but blackhat is the man Water repellant is good for sure.
Covering the grill would work, cant see why not. Its a thin added layer of protection, they dont restrict air. They work great...
I'll go measure the filter

OK, on Outerwear's website it says their covers are designed specific to the filters they are meant to cover.. makes sense. So, I sent them an e-mail with a link to the WMS intake along with the measurements 05STG1 took, THANKS 05STG1!, and asked them if they could design for us a custom filter.
Link to their custom order form.

Wow...Mike, U got this covered for sure THANK U .
This would be a good thing for Shannon to include in the kit, couldnt hurt, and would only help, or at least offer it as an option...along with the NASA approved lining lol
Thanks for contacting Outerwear's, that would be good if they made one for this filter.
Little by little were getting there....

OK, I received a reply from outerwearsracing. They don't have anything this size and asked me to send them the filter itself so they can make an accurate cold air condom. I haven't received my intake yet but I don't mind being the guinnea pig on this and shipping them my filter once I receive it. Unless someone who already has theirs would like to ship right away and not wait for me to get mine?

Mike,
I don't show that I have anything for this size. Can you send me one of the filters? If you send it to us I can make sure that the Pre-filter is designed properly. Please let me know if you can provide us with the filter. You can expect to have the custom made Pre-filter designed built and shipped to you in about 2 weeks. The address that you can send it to is Outerwears, Inc.
12611 US HWY 131
Schoolcraft, MI 49087
Please include in the package your name address and phone number.
Thank you,
Steve Giebel
Or is anyone with this intake near Schoolcraft MI and can stop in?
